Quality & Risk Manager: This is where you come in.

We're seeking a Quality & Risk Manager to partner with our construction teams and lead impactful operational improvements. In this high-visibility role, you'll collaborate with Superintendents, the VP of Operations, and the COO, with the authority to influence material standards, installation practices, engineering guidelines, and operational processes. We're looking for a change agent - someone who will elevate quality, reduce risk, and help shape a culture of excellence across the organization.

The Quality & Risk Manager reports to Nicole Spangler, System Optimization Manager, and is part of a collaborative team leading high-impact initiatives. This highly visible role offers the opportunity to work across all levels and departments, driving meaningful change in support of our growing business

Top deliverables in the first year to be a hero:

1. Lead Installation Quality & Culture Transformation

  • Champion the implementation of MMFS's QAQC Mission Statement and Field Operations Core Values
  • Influence company culture to consistently deliver first-time quality installations
  • Partner with superintendents and foremen to reinforce and elevate installation standards
  • Conduct bi-annual reviews and updates of the QAQC manual to ensure relevance and effectiveness

2. Strengthen Field Operations & Mitigate Risk

  • Develop and roll out project-specific QAQC plans and impactful training programs
  • Collaborate with project leaders to proactively identify and address risk factors
  • Perform a minimum of two project audits per month to assess needs and provide support
  • Create and deliver lessons learned modules focused on the most critical risks
  • Within the first 6 months, establish and implement a Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action framework

3. Drive Proactive Warranty Management

  • Manage the intake, classification, and assignment of all warranty repair calls
  • Maintain a comprehensive project warranty log, tracking all open warranty periods
  • Ensure smooth PM handoffs at construction-to-service transitions and documenting warranty periods
  • Oversee warranty-related financials, including vendor labor & materials claims
  • Present quarterly warranty reports to executives, highlighting trends and opportunities for improvement

4. Lead Reporting & Trend-Driven Improvement

  • Analyze warranty and QAQC data to identify performance trends and root causes of failure
  • Translate findings into actionable process improvements or training initiatives
  • Report on key metrics through a Monthly Warranty Report Card
  • Leverage insights to champion continuous improvement across teams

5. Collaborate Across Functions & Influence at the Executive Level

  • Build trusted relationships with field leadership, executive teams, and key stakeholders
  • Actively engage with project managers, superintendents, service, and procurement teams
  • Present findings, insights, and strategic recommendations to leadership
  • Influence cross-functional decisions and drive lasting change through data-backed strategies

What We're Looking For:

  • 15+ years of hands-on field and/or technical experience in the mechanical or HVAC industry.
  • Extensive knowledge of mechanical systems, including a wide range from VRF systems to central plant configurations.
  • A natural problem solver-someone who can analyze complex challenges and break them down into clear, actionable steps.
  • Proven leadership experience with a track record of fostering and implementing company culture and core values.
  • Strong understanding of Building Management Systems (BMS) and experience interfacing with various BMS platforms.
  • Proficiency with industry-standard software platforms; experience with Procore or similar project management tools is preferred.

Compensation: $140,000 to $165,000 Annually

You'll be based at our Seattle Prefab Shop, located at 3701 South Norfolk Street in the heart of Seattle's industrial district. This modern, state-of-the-art facility is designed for efficiency, safety, and high-quality production. With easy access to major roadways, it offers a well-connected, fast-paced environment where team members take pride in their craft. Your skills will make a real impact here, and your contributions will be recognized daily as we build the systems that power the region. This role also includes frequent travel to jobsites, and periodic monthly travel to MacDonald-Miller's Portland and Inland Northwest locations.
