The Manager, Transmission Operations is responsible for the reliability of the overall Bulk Electric System, maintaining overall system integrity, and the safety of workers and the public, in accordance with Ameren and NERC Standards, Policies, and Procedures.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide direct leadership to a team of Transmission Operations Supervisors and Transmission Dispatchers (Local Union 148).
  • Oversee the implementation of real time actions that ensure the stable and reliable operation of the Bulk Electric System.
  • Ensure that all construction and maintenance work has been reviewed with field personnel and has been appropriately planned.
  • Oversee the coordination among work groups to promote safety, quality, teamwork, outage schedule adherence and budget compliance.
  • Ensure that all transmission switching and all workers' protection assurance (WPA) is done in accordance with Ameren's policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with leaders across Ameren on key strategic initiatives and projects to ensure the ongoing and future reliability of the bulk electric system throughout the clean energy transition.
  • Lead the continued expansion of the Operator Training Program to ensure system operators and dispatchers are prepared to operate an evolving and more complex energy grid.
  • Collaborate with other operations personnel on the continued development of tools, automations, and processes to expand situational awareness and organizational efficiencies.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable NERC and DOE Standards.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in engineering is required. A master's degree in engineering or business is preferred. Ten or more years of experience in power system operations or equivalent is required. Three or more years of supervisory, team leadership, or large project experience is required. Must be able to pass a NERC Cyber Security Background check.

In addition to the above qualifications, the successful candidate will demonstrate:

Ability to work effectively with conflicting priorities and in stressful situations. Demonstrated ability to use good judgment and make sound decisions. Excellent communication skills (verbal/written/presentation). Excellent leadership and organizational skills required. NERC Certified System Operator credentials preferred, required within 6 months.

Additional Information

Ameren's selection process includes a series of interviews and may include a leadership assessment process. Specific details will be provided to qualified candidates.

Compensation Range:

$128,700.00 - $199,500.00

At Ameren, base salary is one component of a competitive compensation package for employees. Our pay ranges are broad to allow for movement within our organization and to accommodate different skill sets and levels of expertise. We take into consideration a variety of factors including, but not limited to, skills, abilities, experience, education, credentials, and internal equity when determining the base salary offered. Roles are eligible for additional rewards including annual incentive payments based on individual and company performance.
