Paid Time Off:

Eligible employees begin accruing PTO as of their date of hire and accrual rates are based on years of service. Base annual accrual starts at 120 hours/15 days for full time status. PTO is a combination of sick and vacation accruals. UMC follows the required WA State Sick Leave guidelines and employees are provided (1) for every 40 hours worked as part of the PTO package. UMC also offers (7) paid holidays, plus (1) Floating Holiday to be used within the calendar year.

Starting Salary Range: $104,000 - $117,000; depending on experience

Location: Lynnwood, WA

Classification: Exempt

Position Overview:

The Project Developer takes the lead role in the technical and financial development of ESG projects including the coordination and execution of the Investment Grade Audit. This requires the PD to lead a development team consisting of Energy Engineers & Project Managers as well as be the primary customer contact during the process. The PD also takes on the role of sales development and sales support to create new clients and business for the group.

The BDR is responsible for selling and supporting the firm's complete BPS and Service offerings to owner direct clients in Western Washington.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Responsible for leading the development and delivery of energy projects.
  2. Manages cross-functional team during development process, including energy engineering, design, constructability & financial models.
  3. Works with customers to identify and document short & long-term goals related to energy & infrastructure upgrades.
  4. Analyzes and develops beneficial facility conservation measures and infrastructure improvement projects.
  5. Performs and supervises preliminary and detailed facility audits to identify energy conservation measures and/or opportunities.
  6. Coordinates and leads facility site visits and communicates with outside vendors as it pertains to RCMs.
  7. Assists sales effort in identification and qualification of potential projects.
  8. Leads the development of preliminary and final proposals.
  9. Analyzes blueprints and performs site surveys to identify mechanical, electrical, and control systems and determine facility operational characteristics.
  10. Applies building energy simulation programs to develop energy, cooling, and heating load-building models using modeling software.
  11. Develops documentation for RCMs; including accurate descriptions, project scope, savings potential, cost estimates, incentives/grants and M&V procedures.
  12. Prepares financial models related to ROI, life cycle costing and internal rate of return.
  13. Participates in client meetings and presentations.
  14. Understands and evaluates energy demand & supply side saving opportunities.
  15. Keep abreast of energy marketplace and help develop new product offerings to meet customer needs.
  16. Lead proposal development bid process and the procurement of new work.

Secondary Responsibilities:

  1. Analyze existing facilities systems and operating efficiency; including mechanical, HVAC, electrical, lighting, water and building envelop.
  2. Develops building baseline operating costs.
  3. Work with Energy Services team in the development and growth of existing customer base and expansion to new clients.
  4. Identifies potential clients, makes initial contact, and fosters new relationships in a consultative manner.
  5. Manage and grow customer base while working to meet annual revenue.
  6. Work proactively with technical team to drive new offerings.
  7. Work with management team to set annual goals and customer focus.
  8. Creates performance assurance plans and assists with performance contracts.
  9. Oversees the monitoring of project performance particularly those that include guarantee savings.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or another related field.
  • 5 years' experience in engineering.
  • 5-10 years' experience in energy.
  • Professional Engineer License preferred.
  • Energy-specific, strategic selling, and negotiation training preferred.
  • CEM preferred.

Required Licensing and Other Certifications:

  • Maintain a valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
