Job Title - Environment Artist - Contract Position

Location San Diego Studio (hybrid possible)

As an Environment Artist working on MLB The Show, you will work closely with the Environment team to create environments and props that are compelling and visually appealing in order to provide the user with the greatest experience possible.


Responsibilities:

  • Model and texture environments and/or related props as needed with an emphasis on realism while under the supervision of the Lead Environment Artist or assigned mentor.
  • Troubleshoot assets and maintain them to stay in frame rate, memory and design spec.
  • Collaborate with environment team members and other teams or individuals as needed.
  • Research and contribute to the production pipelines, processes, and workflows.
  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.


Requirements & Skills:

  • 2+ years' experience in game development modeling environments using Maya, or related experience/software.
  • Experience with video game development including, but not limited to workflow, tools, lighting, high and low poly modeling, texture painting, material setup, surface sampling, UV layout, in-game prop animation, environment prop rigging and asset optimization.
  • Relevant software proficiencies: ZBrush, Maya, Substance Painter, Substance Designer and Photoshop.
  • Possess the ability to work independently, take feedback, and work on a team.
  • Strong artistic ability to visualize entire assets and detail with minimal concept art and direction.
  • create low resolution models and textures from a high resolution textured model.
  • Strong technical ability to ensure assets fit in memory, design, and frame rate limits.
  • Strong polygonal modeling skills in order to generate clean and efficient models at a very fast pace.
  • Great team-player demeanor - being flexible with new ideas, being open to direction and changes.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and organize a work schedule in order to deliver the expected material.
  • Foundation in traditional arts.


Bonus Skills:

  • Knowledge of python\mel scripting.
  • knowledge\experience with Houdini.
  • Experience with Simplygon or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of and passion for baseball.

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role's base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location.

Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.

The estimated base pay range for this role is listed below.
$76,300 $114,500 USD
