Project Manager I As a Project Manager you will be responsible for preparing necessary equipment, labor, transportation and waste disposal for technical services projects. This role determines the length and cost of the project, assists with developing project proposals, and visits customer sites as needed to ensure safety and satisfaction for internal and external customers. Essential Functions & Requirements:
- Prioritizes health and safety by adhering to policies, processes, and maintaining safe practices at all times
- Prepares routine technical services proposals and assists with proposal preparation for large projects, visiting the customer site as needed prior to proposal to evaluate services needed
- Assesses project needs in terms of equipment and labor to determine project length and costs; maintains responsibility for adherence to timeframes and budget throughout the project
- Initiates project by scheduling resources, submitting required paperwork to launch project and negotiates with regulatory agency personnel and prepares written plans and compliance documentation
- Completes customer site visits during the project as needed to monitor progress and keep customer informed; recognizes and negotiates authorized changes in original project plan and adjusts costs accordingly
- Performs field activities as needed to assist in Field Chemist duties
- Maintains customer relations throughout the project, providing detailed progress reports; negotiates change orders with customers
- Supervises personnel involved with field operations; plans work to ensure safe conditions and instructs personnel using established methods and procedures
- Maintains responsibility for monthly billing approval and other administrative tasks
- Participates in hiring, performance evaluation, training, and disciplinary decisions or procedures
- Maintains the ability to travel to customer sites as needed
- Takes on additional duties as assigned to support the team and organization
Education:
- Bachelor's degree (required); degree in chemistry, engineering, environmental science or other technical field (preferred)
- CHMM certification (preferred)
Experience:
- 3+ years of experience in hazardous waste management or environmental services i.e. remediation, emergency response, etc. (required) -OR-
- In lieu of degree, 7+ years of experience in hazardous waste management or environmental services i.e. remediation, emergency response, etc. (required)
Competencies:
- Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner
- Working knowledge of all Federal, State, and local laws and regulations pertaining to the Environmental Services industry
- Understanding of lab-packing protocols
- Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
- Regular and predictable attendance to perform the functions and requirements of this role
