Microbiologist Supervisor (Fort Worth, TX)

This position will coach, develop, and lead the QC Microbiology team to ensure Smith & Nephew products are tested in accordance with established specifications and comply with applicable regulatory guidance and company policy requirements.

The QC Microbiology Supervisor will collaborate cross-functionally to achieve site goals. This position will be responsible for non-conformances, OOS investigations, review and approval of test results and maintaining a cGxP environment in the QC laboratory.

What will you be doing?

• Lead and manage day-to-day activities for the QC Microbiology team.

• Review test results for conformance with specifications and effective documents.

• Assist in internal and external audits.

• Interview and hire QC Microbiology personnel.

• Evaluate, coach, and manage personnel performance.

• Monitor group spending to remain on track with annual budget.

What will you need to be successful?

• Education:

  • Bachelor of Science in Microbiology or related scientific discipline

• Experience:

  • Minimum of 1 year of supervisory experience in a cGxP environment

  • Minimum of 4 years in quality-related experience in a manufacturing environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Proven competence in area to be supervised with minimum 3-5 years of related technical experience; excellent working knowledge of cGxP regulations for QC laboratory applications; excellent working knowledge of data integrity; good working knowledge of compendial requirements; good project management and organizational skills.

• Proactive and timely resolution of issues.

• Excellent teamwork and communication skills.

• Attentive to detail; competent with computerized data storage systems (e.g., LIMS).

• Positive attitude working in a fast-paced environment.

• Physical Demands: able to lift 25-30 lbs; able to stand 1-2 hours at a time.

• Travel Requirements: <10%
