This individual has a broad business approach and is sought out as a functional expert. This position manages the delivery and execution of assigned projects and contributes to the achievement of Information Risk Governance (IRG) goals and objectives.

Primary Responsibilities:



  • Assists with the development and execution of Information Risk Governance department operations, methodology, technologies and tools. Helps drive continuous improvement efforts in alignment with direction provided by leadership and industry standards
  • Conduct verification and validation for security compliance of low and moderately complex information systems, products, and components against NIST standards and guidelines.
  • Analyze design specifications, design documentation, configuration practices and procedures, and operational practices.
  • Facilitate and direct technical issues to appropriate Optum and UnitedHealthcare Technology/Infrastructure and application teams, as needed
  • Interact directly with Segment Security Information Officers and SMEs to address relevant security audit issues.
  • Support and facilitate communication and build trusted relationships with key business contacts including business proposal leaders, SMEs, legal, internal audit, privacy, and compliance to complete requests.
  • Support large, complex projects or segment teams as needed to achieve key business objectives and reduce/mitigate IT security risks
  • Successfully identifies, addresses, manages and/or escalates risks and issues within a project to the segment lead
  • Translates highly complex concepts in ways that can be understood by a variety of audiences
  • Influences senior leadership to adopt new ideas, products and/or approaches to meet business needs and address IT security concerns
  • Leads special projects undertaken by the department and/or the Company.

Required Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in information technology or equivalent 2+ years of IT audit experience
  • 2+ years of experience working in a Regulatory, IT Compliance, Risk Management and/ or IT Audit role
  • 2+ years of proficient understanding of IT security and internal control concepts and how to apply them
  • 2+ years of Project Management / project coordination experience
  • Experience working with one or more of these frameworks NIST 800-53, NIST 800-171, FedRAMP, MARSE and other federal and State regulatory framework

The salary range for this role is $71,600 to $140,600 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
