Job Description

General Summary:

We are seeking a unique leader with a passion for data and technology - responsible for leading and managing our growing delivery & operations team that manage and enable Vertex's Clinical Data Standards & Electronic Data Capture (EDC) solutions enterprise wide. As part of the Data & Software Engineering Team (DSE) you will enable our Clinical Data Management & Study Teams with accurate and secure information to analyze trials using our centralized platform.

The Associate Director | Clinical Data Platform will be a key member of the Data Platforms team, driving forward delivery & operations teams, and maximizing business value for Vertex. You will be responsible for managing a team of operations leads, engineers, and consultants who build, enhance, and manage critical Clinical data solutions across the enterprise. You will engage with IT teams to improve our existing data solutions and drive increased value with our Clinical Data Standards Platform (CDSP) and our EDC capabilities. You will work in partnership with the Director | Data Platforms to architect sound solutions, secure data, deliver continuous value, standardize our solutions, and advance our data platform. You will play a key role in the Vertex story.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Delivery management - Estimate, architect, and execute on the delivery of critical clinical data solutions across the enterprise in partnership with the DSE leadership team
  • Operations Management - Lead a comprehensive, global team of engineers and consultant teams to deliver value and manage Vertex's CDSP and EDC technologies
  • Business Engagement - partner with and enable the Clinical Data Management, Quality, Regulatory, & Study execution teams to deliver on prioritized outcomes
  • Application & solution management - Own, operate, and manage GCP data and analytics solutions in alignment with SOPs and industry best practices
  • Team management - Lead and mentor a high performing team of employees and contractors to deliver predictable value with quality and agility
  • Technology champion - Advocate for automation, security, compliance and standards across the Clinical Data Management space
  • Innovation champion - Advocate for process enhancements and opportunities to improve our data & analytics capabilities with a focus on modern data engineering capabilities and approaches

Qualifications:

  • Successful track record working with Clinical Data Platforms & Clinical Trial Data
  • Successful track record managing an integrated vendor team, supporting an organization 24/7/365
  • Demonstrated experience working with GxP solutions in the Clinical Trials environment
  • Experience in delivery in agile environments (5+ years)
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple projects that require collaboration across clinical areas
  • Skillful, collaborative team player able to develop rapport and credibility with stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to teach, engage and support others as they learn new technologies and concepts
  • Enthusiasm for and the ability to quickly learn new technologies and tackle difficult problems
  • An understanding of enterprise software development tools and methodologies
  • Strong presentation, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Strong understanding of FDA, ICH, & CDISC regulations and industry standards
  • Strong understanding of Clinical platforms including Veeva CDMS, and Elluminate and the management of a technology ecosystem
  • High level of comfort sourcing, manipulating, and visualizing clinical data and providing contextualized data to business teams
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience with authoring, developing, and maintaining SOPs for Clinical applications

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in technology discipline or equivalent
  • Typically requires 8 years relevant business systems in the Life Sciences industry, or the equivalent combination of education and experience

Pay Range:

$165,600 - $248,400

Disclosure Statement:

The range provided is based on what we believe is a reasonable estimate for the base salary pay range for this job at the time of posting. This role is eligible for an annual bonus and annual equity awards. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay, in accordance with federal and state requirements. Actual base salary pay will be based on a number of factors, including skills, competencies, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.

In this Hybrid-Eligible role, you can choose to be designated as:
1. Hybrid: work remotely up to two days per week; or select
