Job Description

Torch Technologies is seeking a Software Assurance professional to provide technical support to the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) Engineering Directorate Modeling & Simulation (M&S) office (DES) team supporting Objective Simulation Framework (OSF).

Responsibilities:



  • Applies knowledge of Application Security principles and Secure Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs)
  • Understands software development processes in relation to Risk Management Framework (RMF) controls and contributes to the development of software assurance packages
  • Participates in establishing and maintaining software quality standards throughout the software development lifecycle, including documentation, development methodologies, testing, and maintenance
  • Specifies both functional and non-functional software requirements to ensure technical accuracy and performance
  • Assists in developing quantitative metrics and techniques for evaluating software quality and performance
  • Establishes and executes software test standards and methods; conducts thorough software testing activities
  • Supports Cybersecurity efforts by applying software assurance practices and conducting software vulnerability analyses using automated tools (e.g., HP Fortify, SonarQube) and manual review techniques
  • Reviews supplier-provided documentation for completeness, clarity, and compliance with technical and contractual standards
  • Recommends documentation improvements to support compliance, project objectives, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Analyzes detailed technical reports such as Software Threat Assessments, Attack Surface Analyses, and Interface Design Documents; works closely with contractors and developers to identify mitigation strategies and ensure adherence to MDA Memo 16 and related Missile Defense Agency processes
  • Interfaces directly with government stakeholders, effectively communicating technical findings and program updates across all management levels
  • Reviews and evaluates software products and services for adherence to government and agency-specific directives, standards, and software quality assurance practices
  • Assists cybersecurity teams with system assessments, audit functions, and the creation of RMF compliance packages
  • Willing to travel up to 10% to support project and customer site needs

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, a related field or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years related experience in government software development, quality assurance and testing.
  • Candidates must comply with the experience, training, and certification requirements for Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II certification (e.g., Security + CE, CySA, CASP+, etc.) to satisfy DoD 8140 (DoD 8570.01) requirements upon employment.
  • Must have experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux operating systems.
  • Working knowledge of DoD security policies and procedures.
  • Self-starter that thrives in a dynamic environment and works well within a team environment.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills for working within a team environment.
  • Candidate must possess an understanding of Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Service (eMASS), Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG's), IAVAs or with DoD information assurance applications such as Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) for vulnerability scans, network configuration assessments, and network discovery and Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP)/Evaluate-STIG Validation Tool for validating system compliance.
  • US Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance



Preferred Requirements:



  • Knowledge of ACAS, NESSUS, Elastic, SCAP, POA&Ms, NIST, NISPOM, system audits, vulnerability scanning, and RMF package development.
  • Support Stakeholders in the operation of the comprehensive Elastic platform in terms of know-how and the technologies used.
  • Linux certification e.g., Linux+, LPIC, Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA), Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE).
  • Previous experience with the Missile Defense Agency elements, components, or equivalent system of system environments.
