Job Summary
The Senior EEG Technologist serves as a skilled and knowledgeable member of the neurodiagnostic team, proficient-or willing to become proficient-in performing a variety of advanced diagnostic procedures, including Evoked Potential studies (VEP, ABR, SSEP) and EMG/NCS. This role functions as a resource and mentor to fellow EEG technologists, supporting compliance with departmental policies, UCDH protocols, and regulatory guidelines. The Senior EEG Technologist provides direct patient care across a diverse population and age range, upholding a high standard of service, professionalism, and patient satisfaction. This individual is expected to demonstrate sound clinical judgment, prioritize effectively, and apply abstract reasoning in complex situations within a multidisciplinary care environment. Additional responsibilities include contributing to staff and patient education, supporting quality improvement initiatives, and exhibiting leadership and accountability following ABRET standards. The Senior EEG Technologist may also serve as a subject matter expert (SME) and advisor to neurodiagnostic assistants and students. Under the direction of the Director of Neurodiagnostic Services and the Clinical EEG Supervisor or their designees, the Senior EEG Technologist performs routine and complex EEG procedures on hospital inpatients and outpatients of various ages. - Minimum licenses & certifications accepted:
- Registered EEG Technologist (R. EEG T.) certified by ABRET Neurodiagnostic Credentialing & Accreditation
- Registered EEG Technologist (RET) certified by the Canadian Board of Registration of EEG Technologists (CBRET)
- Or a combination of a Neurodiagnostic Credential plus demonstrated patient experience (i.e., Registered Polysomnography Technologist or IONM Technologist, or Registered Nerve Conduction Technologist
- Must hold an EEG Technologist Registration (R. EEG T.) certified by the ABRET Neurodiagnostic Credentialing and Accreditation within two (2) years of hire
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) or UC Davis CPR certification
- A combination of education & experience with a demonstrated minimum of two (2) years of recent Neurodiagnostic Technician or Technologist experience
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
- Ability to utilize medical terminology appropriately

Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Long-Term Monitoring (CLTM) Registration through ABRET
- Graduation from an accredited EEG school/program
- A Bachelor's Degree
- Demonstrated experience working in a real-time Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU)
- Demonstrated experience working in an acute care setting as an EEG Technician/Technologist
- Demonstrated experience performing live continuous EEG Monitoring
- Experience with routine EEG Examinations
- Experience with In-Lab extended EEG Monitoring
- Ambulatory outpatient EEG (hookup and disconnect)
- Phase I, Phase II set up, care, interventions/troubleshooting, and experience in modalities such as Evoked Potentials, ECOG, WADA, SPECT, and Cortical Stimulation
- Skills and ability to measure and accurately apply disc electrodes to those predetermined areas, utilizing knowledge of the International 10/20 system
- Must know electrode placement to accurately monitor physiological artifacts and apply additional electrodes
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge and skill levels in area of expertise to ensure the provision of the highest quality patient care services.

- Must have the ability to apply basic principles and practices of neurodiagnostic technology to novel techniques and develop expertise in performing complex neurodiagnostic procedures

Department Overview The Clinical Neurodiagnostic Labs at UC Davis Health consist of five specialty areas: EEG Lab (inpatient & ambulatory/outpatient), EMG Lab, Sleep Lab, & Transcranial Doppler (TCD) Lab. Each unit is managed jointly by the Neurodiagnostic Services Director and the Medical Director to provide Neurodiagnostic Services to UCDH and the Midtown Outpatient Center.
