Job Summary

The Transplant Nurse Supervisor supervises professionals providing comprehensive multi-organ transplant services, ensuring quality and compliance with internal policies, external regulations and practices. May also supervise support staff. Assists with the administration and management of personnel, fiscal, and material resources.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position

  • Valid California Registered Nurse License without restriction (RN)
  • American Heart Association (AHA) BLS CPR Certification
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN)
  • 2 or more years of relevant clinical experience including transplant coordination, transplant care, dialysis experience, or critical care experience.
  • Ability to supervise professional staff, assign work, manage complex workflow and competing priorities. Knowledge of human resources management policies with the ability to train, evaluate, and document staff performance. Ability to effectively participation decision-making on human resource matters. Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language. Ability to utilize medical terminology appropriately. Knowledge of current trends in nursing. Commitment to excellence in patient care. Effective interpersonal skills. Demonstrates accountability and professionalism Adapts to change in a positive, professional and productive manner. Knowledge of legal implications in clinical practice and documentation. Knowledge of performance improvement and evidence-based practice. Basic computer skills. Ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care, taking into consideration protective interventions, development (behavioral and physical) and physiological characteristics specific to the patients.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Clinical Transplant Coordinator (CCTC)
  • Master's degree in nursing (MSN)
  • Minimum one year of nursing supervisory or management experience.
  • Knowledge and skills related to transplantation including: referral and selection criteria, evaluation testing, immunology, HLA testing and its implications, desensitization principles, protocols, and side effects of biologicals. Coordination of transplant event, triage of post-transplant patient and live donor phone calls. Ability to independently set priorities and make clinical decisions in high paced environment. Knowledge of transplant medications, indications, dosage ranges, side effects, and potential toxicity.

Work Environment
