Facilities Carpenter A

GENERAL FUNCTION: Responsible for measuring, sketching, calculating costs, and performing carpenter functions related to all buildings and facilities on site for both remodel work and new construction.

TYPICAL DUTIES: The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed and are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities.

* Read blueprints and drawings and sketch all remodels and new construction jobs on site.

* Perform cost analysis and bids for all remodel and new construction work on buildings and facilities on all sites, both interior and exterior.

* Use hand tools, power tools and other equipment to perform all building and carpentry needs.

* Calculate and list all materials needed to perform building or carpentry work to buildings or facilities located on site.

* Cut, shape, construct, and complete duties with lumber materials for all building and carpentry functions for all buildings and facilities on site as needed.

* Lay out flooring, roofing, structures, staircases, framing, and drywall for all projects as needed.

* Perform finish work on drywall installation, and finish painting on all projects as needed.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

* Knowledge of reading blueprints and drawings.

* Strong verbal and oral communication skills.

* Proven problem-solving skills.

* Extensive knowledge of carpentry work.

EXPERIENCE & TRAINING: A high school diploma or equivalent required. Prior building, remodeling, and finish carpentry work experience required. Previous experience in shipbuilding industry or any equivalent combination of experience and training which results in the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
