Professional Experience/ Qualifications

  • Two years of relevant experience in a role heavily focused on planning, operations, process development, project management, and leveraging systems to advance a goal.
  • Excellent follow-through and ability to thrive within a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Self-motivated and able to manage multiple competing priorities simultaneously with an appropriate sense of urgency.
  • Process-oriented with excellent organizational and documentation skills.
  • Solid judgment, anticipatory skills, and the ability to recognize what challenges should receive immediate management attention.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, outstanding attention to detail, and superb organizational, prioritization, and analytical skills.
  • Must be capable of working collegially with a diverse group of parents, alumni, employers, faculty, staff and students within a university context.
  • Demonstrated technical and database management ability. Capacity to learn a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.
  • Strong aptitude for running reports and data analysis; strong proficiency in Excel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior talent recruitment experience.
  • Management of a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.
  • Experience selecting and onboarding a new software platform or technology system into a team's existing workflow.
  • Proficiency in Tableau or another data visualization tool.

Education

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree and at least two years of full-time professional experience or Associate's degree plus 5 years of experience.
  • A Master's degree is preferred.

The assistant director is a key member of the ER team who manages the relevant data, logistics, and systems to ensure a high-quality experience for employers and students alike. The team partners closely with over 200 employers annually who seek to hire Colgate talent for internships and entry-level roles. It also monitors postings elevated by several thousand more employers recruiting for opportunities within Handshake, Colgate's advising and recruiting software. This person will serve as the team's main Handshake system administrator, supporting a high level of quality and utilization for all users.

This position reports to the associate director of employer relations. The new hire will join a highly-motivated team of 14 professionals and ~20 student staff. The entire team is committed to achieving best-in-class preparation to launch liberal arts graduates into a global, ever-changing workplace.
Accountabilities

  • Responsible for coordinating the operational aspects of Career Services' student-facing internship and employment recruiting. This may include:

    • Helping to create systems that optimize processes, leverage technology, and create efficiencies for the team.
    • Establish and independently facilitate the workflows and business processes that drive progress on Employer Relations' pipeline of recruiting prospects.
    • Assist the team to manage a pipeline of employer partners through formal recruiting; help coordinate associated engagement opportunities with students.



  • Serve as the team's main system administrator for Handshake, Career Services' recruiting and advising platform. Ensure system settings stay current and reflect the best methods to keep student and employer data clean and accurate. Track innovations from the vendor to leverage new opportunities to maximize the platform and suggest improvements to current processes and work flows.
  • Provide technical support and assistance to employers and colleagues who seek to understand and use Handshake.
  • Responsible for tracking, analyzing, and reporting on student and employer data related to employer relations - students' summer and post-graduate outcomes data; monthly, semesterly, and annual employer engagement reporting; etc. Use Excel to examine large datasets to identify trends. Utilize data visualization software (e.g. Tableau) to report content to internal and external stakeholders, and support the team's strategic decision-making.
  • Support the employer relations team in organizing the logistics of on-campus and virtual employer engagements and programming, as well as recruiters' application processes. Partner with Career Services' communications professional to ensure employer relations marketing is accurate.
