Main Duties & Responsibilities

JOB PURPOSE: As a Continuous Improvement Intern, you will be joining our manufacturing operations team to gain practical
experience and contribute to various projects in the field of research and development. Throughout your internship, you will work closely with cross-functional
teams to optimize processes, enhance productivity, and streamline operations in
our organization. This role offers you an excellent opportunity to apply your
academic knowledge and learn valuable skills in a real-world industrial
setting.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Objective Summary #1: To overhaul our gauge calibration / certification system, which will allow us to bring this work back in house and eliminate the need for a 3rd party certification company., This task will include, but not limited to, creating a matrix of what certification tool is required at each piece of equipment, then to determine if we have the necessary tools to do the job correctly, and finally to put together a certification / verification plan.

Objective Summary #2: To create a daily operational performance tracking matrix, where the supervisors can track each parts performance and each operator's performance to the budgeted rates.

Objective Summary #3: Assist the Continuous Improvement Manager in completing the current 5S project to gain an understanding of practical use of 5S in a production environment, Assist CI Manager in the start of the next 5S improvement plan.

Objective Summary #4: Observe specific operations being utilized and submit recommended changes to Operating Procedures to Superintendent and Quality Manager.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled
    in a degree program in Continuous Improvement or related field (preferably
    master's Program).
  • Eagerness
    to learn and contribute to the team's success.
  • Strong
    analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency
    in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity
    with industrial engineering principles and methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma,
    etc.).
  • Basic
    understanding of process optimization techniques.
  • Excellent
    communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability
    to work independently and manage time effectively.
