Job Summary

The goals of the Warrior Bridge program (WB) are to: (1) increase employment opportunities for veterans with disabilities; (2) increase job-related skills among local veterans with disabilities; (3) increase the integration of veterans with disabilities into the private sector workforce; and (4) improve self-sufficiency among veterans with significant disabilities. The WB Coordinator will provide comprehensive employment rehabilitation overlay services to improve the self-sufficiency and quality of life of veterans with disabilities through competitive employment, including comprehensive self-employment exploration, education and business start-up services for veterans with disabilities. The WB Coordinator will be responsible for building employer relationships, coordinating direct employment services for veterans and providing community resource linkages.

Primary Duties

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. These duties and responsibilities will be rated on the Annual Performance Review.

  • Assist with developing sustainable funding for Warrior Bridge services and implementing the Warrior Bridge business development plan aligning with core competencies, i.e., Supported Employment, Peer Support and resource navigation.
  • Collect, analyze and report data on all demographics, verification of veteran status and measures of success monthly, and assist in all other quality assurance procedures; assist in complying with all funder requirements for reporting and service delivery.
  • Secure Work Opportunity Tax Credits (WOTC), through the placement of veterans on our AbilityOne Contracts.
  • Continuously support participants through task analysis, visual aids, and regular check-ins with operational staff to ensure successful job placements within AbilityOne contracts and the community.
  • Coordinate and manage veteran-related community events, ensuring successful planning, execution, and engagement to support and honor veterans within the community.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Partner with Abilities, ServiceSource, and other non-profit organizations to expand programming for veterans; continuously evaluate the project for best practices and replication.
  • Collaborate with the Veteran's Administration and the Department of Defense to build employer relationships for veteran employment. Connect veterans with local and national jobs, housing, and training resources.
  • Work directly with veterans to improve performance-based interviewing skills and assist with resume preparation to help secure employment.
  • Assist in recruiting veterans for a Speaker's Bureau to market Warrior Bridge in the community; engage in partnership and funding development to expand the program and obtain sustainable funding sources; and review participant and stakeholder satisfaction surveys to ensure that quality services are being provided.
  • Track & manage the funding, distribution, & restocking of the Veteran's Mall.
  • Facilitate Peer Support & Wellness Recovery Training virtually/in person.
  • Attend Job Fairs, conferences, and conduct presentations in the community.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications: Education, Experience and Certification(s)

  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree in human services or related field required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years' experience directly working with veterans, job placement services, training, marketing, or related experience required.
  • Preference will be given to veteran candidates, especially those with disabilities.
  • Valid driver's license and/or access to reliable transportation to perform work-related travel required. Eligible drivers must have a good motor vehicle record (MVR).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent oral/verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with consumers, families, all levels of staff and community agencies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office skills, with the ability to become familiar with corporate specific programs and software.
  • A well-organized & self-directed individual who is a team player.
  • Must handle confidential and delicate matters with diplomacy while maintaining a big-picture perspective to support the overall development of the organization.
  • Ability to interact with people at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only a limited standard exists.

Work Environment

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. Work is performed primarily in an office with some activities conducted outdoors in varying climate.
