Maintenance & Engineering Intern

The Maintenance & Engineering Intern will work with Maintenance and Process Engineering in problem-solving, investigating root causes of repetitive problems and implementing permanent corrective actions. Will work on multiple tasks with increased responsibility and exposure with demonstrated capability in various departments as needed/desired for enhancement of education/career goals and opportunities.

What you will Learn and Do:

• Familiarity through hands-on experience with majority of plastic resins
• Familiarity and/or experience with Injection and Compression Molding
• Exposure to and involvement in Lean Manufacturing, SQF, and GMP
• A good understanding of processing principles and techniques
• Utilize analytical, written and verbal communication skills and basic math skills
• Use and enhance computer literacy (MS Word, Excel, Outlook)

• Good knowledge of mold design and its relationship with processing
• Prepare and present complex data to multiple levels of the organization

Physical Requirements:

• Repetitive bending from the upright position to approximately a 35-degree angle
• Ability to lift and carry 40 pounds and be able to stand on concrete surface for several hours
• Repetitive movement in and around production/manufacturing equipment

QUALIFICATIONS: Education, Knowledge, Training, and Work Experience

• High School diploma or GED
• 2-year technical degree preferred

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
• Strong analytical and technical communication skills

• Follow all Good Manufacturing Processes (GMP) and Safe Quality Foods (SQF) procedures.
• Ability to present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and other company representatives.

NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Maintain clean work area.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Help in other job functions as required.

ENVIRONMENT:

Work will be performed primarily in the Maintenance shop and Production floor, which is a high-speed manufacturing operation with heavy-duty industrial equipment. The noise level in the Production areas is very loud.
