Position Summary

The Salvation Army Northern Division Rochester Corps Social Services Coordinator provides direct assistance to program participants. The Coordinator also recruits and provides a full range of case management services to Pathway of Hope (POH) participants. POH is responsible for providing targeted services to participants with a desire to break the cycle of crisis and enable a path out of intergenerational poverty.

$22.00 - $23.50/hour, 40 hours/week

Essential Functions (approximate time spent)



  • Provide participants with direct support and assistance (e.g., housing assessments, Heatshare, vouchers, financial assistance). (45%)
  • Maintain up-to-date, accurate participant information in casefiles and through database entry and internal reporting. (25%)
  • Conduct long-term strength-based, person-centered, holistic case management to POH participants. (10%)
  • Assist with seasonal and special events. (5%)
  • Recruit qualifying participants for POH and promote social services and corps programs with participants and throughout the community. (5%)
  • Occasionally assist with food preparation and meal service. (5%)
  • Engage in internal and external activities to promote and further The Salvation Army and POH goals and objectives. (5%)


Education and Experience



  • Associate degree in relevant field preferred. In lieu of degree, a combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • If degree is in social work, must be licensed by state board.
  • Previous social services experience required.
  • Must pass background checks.
  • Valid driver's license and meet MVR requirements preferred.
  • ServSafe certification required or ability to gain certification within 90 days of employment (the organization will pay for the certification).

Working Conditions



  • A variety of work including sitting, standing, reaching, bending, lifting, climbing, and twisting.
  • Professional environment; not eligible for a remote-friendly work environment.
  • Must be able communicate clearly in English.
  • Standard business hours with infrequent evenings and weekends.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift 40 pounds.



Supervisory Responsibilities

None.

Driving/Travel Requirements

May occasionally drive agency vehicle locally to support the mission if MVR check cleared.
