Temporary Full-Time Faculty Position in Sociology
Academic Year Appointment (Fall 2025 - Spring 2026)

Bethlehem Campus, Northampton Community College

Northampton Community College (NCC) seeks a qualified and dedicated instructor for a full-time temporary position in Sociology for the 2025-2026 academic year. The successful candidate will teach a 15-credit load per semester, primarily on-ground, daytime courses held on the Bethlehem campus. There may be the opportunity to teach one online course per semester. The teaching schedule will likely span four days per week. Responsibilities include teaching both Cultural Anthropology and Principles of Sociology.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Sociology is required; Ph.D. in Sociology or related field is strongly preferred

  • Minimum of three years of college-level teaching experience, ideally in a community college setting

  • Demonstrated experience and effectiveness in teaching diverse student populations

  • Understanding of college-level assessment practices

  • Experience with online instruction, preferably in Brightspace

  • Ability to work collaboratively with departmental colleagues and across disciplines

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with Brightspace as a Learning Management System

  • Background in both Sociology and Anthropology instruction

A successful candidate will also be asked to:

  • Display facility with learner-centered pedagogical practices

  • Complete college service activities

  • Attend professional development workshops

  • Model excellence for our students

  • Help mentor adjunct sociology instructors

  • Act as an academic advisor to students
