POSITION SUMMARY

Summary:

As the Manager, Tax Compliance, you will own the Company's income tax compliance process. This position requires excellent excel skills, critical thinking, and the ability to prioritize work to coincide with internal and external deadlines. You will have frequent interaction with all levels of internal employees, as well as outside consultants (tax advisors, auditors, etc.) requiring effective communication skills.

Orientation and Onboarding:

All new JBG SMITH employees start their tenure at the company with a half-day orientation session that covers information relevant to all employees. Participants learn about the company, its history, mission, and culture, and how to find the resources and information you'll need to be successful in your role as a JBG SMITH employee.



WHAT YOU'LL DO

    Be responsible for all aspects of the Company's income tax compliance and planning, including quarterly estimated tax payments and extensions for federal and various state/local jurisdictions
  • Manage and review federal and state tax returns for partnerships and corporations (60 +/- taxpayers), including the DC Combined Form D-20
  • Prepare and review fixed assets (i.e. additions, disposals, and tax return packages)
  • Prepare and review quarterly and annual projected taxable income calculations which includes 30 book/tax differences
  • Review complex partner allocations and partner correspondence with outside service providers
  • Manage and review state apportionment and state non-resident partnership withholding
  • Develop a detailed understanding of the Company's operations for purposes of evaluating income tax compliance implications
  • Work with tax, IT, and accounting teams to automate tax processes to gain efficiency
  • Stay abreast of tax law changes in the Company's jurisdictions to ensure compliance with laws and to ensure optimal use and application of such laws


WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED (REQUIREMENTS)

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Certified Public Accountant required
  • 4+ years of tax/tax compliance experience, with at least 2 years at a Big Four accounting firm
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Excel required
  • Well-developed analytical, interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Experience using Yardi, Alteryx and/or BNA Fixed Assets, a plus

The salary range for this position is $130,000-$150,000 annually. In addition to base salary, a discretionary bonus will be offered. Please note that the salary range information provided is a general guideline. It is uncommon for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on a variety of factors.
