GENERAL SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Rehabilitation Services Regional Manager, has responsibility for managing service delivery and personnel for their assigned site/service. Directs staff in performing day-to-day operations, acts as a clinical resource for staff members, sustains regulatory compliance, and supports quality initiatives. Works collectively as a member of the management team of HFH/HFMG Rehabilitation Services.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Works with the manager to plan, organize and monitor the site's operations related to the provision of care, front desk functions, environmental/building issues and regulatory compliance.
  • Directs daily functions of site/service line staff, including staff scheduling and approval of time off. Approves all continuing education time and content. Completes staff schedule and provides minimum of 90 days of staff schedule for appointment scheduling.
  • Assigns patient caseload and department tasks as needed to various team members. Discusses anticipated and unanticipated fluctuations in staffing needs with manager or other supervisors and makes staff scheduling adjustment recommendations.
  • Works with the manager in interviewing job candidates and makes recommendations for hire.
  • Monitors and reports on individual staff performance, and completes staff performance reviews. Provides support for staff development; initiates progressive disciplinary action and develops remediation plans.
  • Monitors team member's compliance with departmental quality assessment monitors, and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Works as a part of the Rehab management team to develop departmental policies, and systems of service delivery focused on exemplary clinical service and appropriate access. May initiate clinical program development.
  • Responsible for response to customer feedback, complaint resolution, staff incident reporting/resolution and maintaining standards of service excellence. Works as a liaison with medical staff and other HFHS staff in promoting quality care.
  • Monitors staff productivity with respect to productivity targets.
  • Works with manager to ensure regulatory readiness for site.
  • Responsible for inventory control and initiation of purchase requisitions.
  • Develops clinical staff competency standards, trains/mentors/precepts staff members in attainment of appropriate competencies to deliver patient care. Assists manager in containing expenses and maximizing revenue for the site.


Patient Service Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates model patient treatment duties of a physical or occupational therapist which includes assessment, treatment, discharge planning and collaboration with other health care providers. Patient treatment is provided in an appropriate balance with administrative responsibilities (50% or less patient care).
  • Assists team members in clinical reasoning, execution of medical orders and policies/procedures.
  • Assigns duties to therapists, assistants, techs and communicates with physicians and other health care team members as appropriate.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:



  • Bachelor's Degree in Physical or Occupational Therapy.
  • Current State of Michigan licensure or registration as a PT or OT. OT's will require the National Board of Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) certification.
  • Minimum of two to three years of experience as a Physical or Occupational Therapist.
  • Ability to demonstrate leadership skill and clinical excellence.
