We have an opportunity at our corporate offices in Chicago for a Vice President Sales and Marketing on our Health Solutions team. This is a hybrid position reporting into our Chicago, IL office, requiring 2 days a week in the office.

This position will provide leadership, strategic direction, and
revenue and contribution margin growth for the Health Solutions (HS) unit of
the American Medical Association (AMA). The Vice President will work closely with HS business
operations, product management, content development and other business units
across the AMA to establish, lead and execute short and long-term sales,
account management and marketing strategies, goals, and policies that drive AMA
revenue and contribution margin. Key
business development functions include: large account sales development/account
management; new market development; partnerships, marketing, sales and
marketing operations, and potential acquisitions and/or affiliations. Responsible for informing HS and AMA on voice
of customer, participation in strategic planning for HS BU. Key performance criteria include: improving
sales; retention and revenue growth that are consistent with AMA's strategic
plan; market conditions and perceived value of HS products and services within
the healthcare marketplace. Current
sales revenue stands at approximately >$350M million dollars.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Sales and Account Management Strategy

  • Provide strategic direction, leadership, and guidance to the sales; drive the business unit to meet and exceed established goals for account management, sales, service, profitability, and growth.
  • Responsible for all aspects of account management, sales, licensing of intellectual property, research, tools, and processes, including supporting the enterprise-wide use of AMA's CRM (Salesforce.com), and customer relationship management of HS full line of products and services.
  • Working closely with the Product Vice Presidents and business leaders to evaluate products, trends, and revenue opportunities, particularly as they relate to maximizing sales and margin.
  • Enhance licensing strategies for AMA intellectual property to improve AMA's market impact and financial position.
  • Provide timely and accurate sales information, including forecasting of sales data. Continuously monitor sales and distribution channels and help in the management of channel conflict.
  • Collaborate with AMA membership and physician engagement segments to drive sales and provide market intelligence.

Market and Product Growth

  • Lead innovation and performance by identifying, evaluating, refining existing products, business models, distribution channels, and product and partnership strategies.
  • Identify and develop new or adjacent markets for existing AMA data products and develop corresponding business plans, launch and execution strategies to support the successful launch of new products and innovation.
  • Represent the AMA in the marketplace as an expert on business products and services for physicians and the healthcare industry by fostering new relationships and maintaining communications with other organizations and industry groups.
  • Identify and develop opportunities for strategic partnerships; affiliations and /or acquisitions that would significantly advance AMA strategic objectives and financial performance; lead and direct due diligence efforts working with appropriate AMA departments.

Marketing

  • Oversee the developing and implementation of a cohesive marketing strategic plan to increase brand awareness of HS business assets that align with overall AMA brand objectives, setting current and long-term goals.
  • Lead efforts to develop and strengthen the brand's position as the leader in its market segment; also integrate with the development, implementation and evaluation of AMA's digital marketing and communication strategies.
  • Provide strategic direction and guidance on marketing operations teams; ensures that marketing operations technologies, tools and processes support planning and market analysis to achieve overall strategic and financial goals.
  • Provides marketing leadership with analysis and recommendations to align with market demands and improve sales effectiveness; support AMA Product Management and development teams by collecting market intelligence and customer information and feedback.

Staff Management

  • Lead, mentor and provide management oversight for professional staff.
  • Responsible for setting objectives, evaluating performance, and developing staff.
  • Identify opportunities for advancing staff skills and expertise.

May include other responsibilities as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Bachelor's
    degree required. MBA in Business, Marketing, Finance, or a related field
    is preferred
  2. 15+ years' demonstrated experience leading a healthcare related company or division, in sales, marketing, operations and launching products or services into the healthcare market. Experience with business development with P/L responsibility, strategic partnerships, affiliations and/or acquisitions required.
  3. Minimum 7+ years of experience in people management; proven ability to grow and mentor talent.
  4. Demonstrated knowledge of the healthcare industry and trends as it relates to healthcare segments, reimbursement/coding, and database products management. Knowledge of industry, governmental, vendor and other organized influences as it relates to physicians and their practices.
  5. Extensive knowledge of the principles and methods for effectively showing, promoting, and selling reimbursement and database products and services, to include marketing strategy and tactics, sales techniques, enterprise sales, and sales control systems.
  6. Demonstrated knowledge of the best practices for providing personalized services and processes for customers, including customer needs assessments, meeting high standards of quality for provided services, and evaluating customer satisfaction.
  7. Proven experience developing a strategic roadmap with sound technical skills, analytical ability, good judgment, and strong operational focus. Proficiency in financial analysis and business planning tools, software, and methodologies.
  8. Highly effective written and oral communication skills, with ability to communicate complex outcomes: ability to adapt to stakeholder needs at both the strategic and operational level. Strong presentations skills; clear and persuasive.
  9. Exceptional interpersonal relationship skills with the ability to interface effectively with all levels of the organization.
  10. Decisive individual, with a "big picture" perspective and tactical level of accountability. Identifies, develops, designs, or creates new applications, ideas, relationships, systems, or products; provides leadership throughout the organization and seen as a leader in the industry.

This role is an exempt position, and the salary range for this position is $234,600 - $316,710. This is the lowest to highest salary we believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee's pay within the salary range will be determined by a variety of factors including but not limited to business consideration, geographical location, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
