Job Description

General Summary:

The Director, Business Engagement Lead for Human Resources (HR) is responsible for driving the strategic alignment between HR business functions (e.g. Talent Acquisition, Talent Management, Compensation and Benefits, Operations, Workforce Analytics) and technology solutions. This role serves as the primary liaison between HR stakeholders and DTE (Data Technology and Engineering), ensuring that HR technology initiatives support HR's business objectives, improve user experience, and enhance operational efficiency. The role requires a deep understanding of HR processes, technology trends and stakeholder management to drive digital transformation and innovation within the HR function.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Align technology portfolio & vision to the business strategy (Governance & Roadmap)

  • Act as a strategic advisor to HR leadership, aligning technology transformation programs with HR and business objectives.

  • Continually build the future digital automation roadmap to have an ongoing, significant impact towards meeting strategic business goals

  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders in HR, DTE and external vendors to become a trusted partner and have an ongoing, significant impact towards meeting strategic business goals

  • Serve as the voice of HR in technology discussions, advocating for user needs and business priorities.

  • Present ideas and forward-looking plans to, and engage directly with, cross-functional senior leaders on regular basis

  • Lead the development and execution of an HR technology roadmap that enhances employee experience and operational efficiency.

  • Deploy a multi-disciplinary approach to solving business challenges and unlocking new streams of business value through digital automation projects

  • Stay ahead of emerging HR technology trends, evaluating new tools and innovations that can drive business impact.

  • Lead full project lifecycle from intake through deployment, as well as communication, change management and team mobilization/ onboarding to support talent management, workforce analytics, compensation, benefits and other HR functions

  • Oversee a portfolio of projects, programs, releases and system enhancements, assuring quality and timeliness of delivery while remaining within allocated budget limits

  • Lead cross-functional teams in the execution of HR technology projects, ensuring alignment with business needs, timelines and budgets

  • Establish, track and report on project/program value drivers and financial impact

  • Proactively offer innovative technologies, solution ideas, and potential business process improvements in pursuit of driving efficiencies and meeting business needs

  • Enhance and improve internal processes and procedures related to demand management, resource management, project delivery, platform releases and ongoing operational support

  • Provide day-to-day support and maintenance for Workday and other applications, ensuring maximum uptime, high performance, and excellent customer service

  • Manage relationships with strategic software vendors and service providers

  • Work closely with DTE (Data Technology & Engineering) Compliance, Internal Audit and Quality Assurance groups as needed to ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) and GxP regulations, as well as our system lifecycle and change management requirements

  • Partner closely with other functions and teams when necessary to deliver on the business roadmap (e.g. partner with HR and IT teams to enhance HR data analytics and reporting capabilities, enabling data-driven decision making)

  • Ensure HR technology solutions provide actionable insights to support enterprise leadership, workforce planning, and employee engagement strategies.

  • Develop budget for a program or department

  • Attract, develop, and retain talent

  • As a people manager within the organization, has financial accountabilities and human resource responsibilities for assigned staff.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Able to translate broad business strategies and functional priorities into effective operational goals and objectives; able to actively participate in strategic planning for the function

  • Strategic thinking and problem solving

  • Results oriented leader with a proven track record of on-time project delivery for large, cross-functional and complex projects with global stakeholders

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and ability to present in a clear and concise manner to all audiences

  • Exceptional strategic thinking, problem solving, analytical, quantitative and prioritization skills, including the development of business cases/ value propositions

  • Expertise in Agile methodology and working in Agile environments

  • Strong understanding of key concepts related to Software Development Life Cycle, Information Security, and Digital Transformation

  • Strong project management and change management experience.

  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication and leadership skills

  • Experience in driving digital transformation initiatives in HR

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in technology discipline or equivalent

  • Typically requires 10+ years of work experience in HR technology business engagement or HRIS leadership roles or transformation roles in a technology environment.

  • Deep understanding of HR processes; including talent acquisition, talent management, compensation, benefits, workforce planning and HR operations

  • Strong business acumen and HR technology expertise

  • Relationship-building and influence

  • Strong background in HR systems (Workday, People Analytics, ServiceNow...) and/or business processes

Pay Range:

$190,400 - $285,600

Disclosure Statement:

The range provided is based on what we believe is a reasonable estimate for the base salary pay range for this job at the time of posting. This role is eligible for an annual bonus and annual equity awards. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay, in accordance with federal and state requirements. Actual base salary pay will be based on a number of factors, including skills, competencies, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.

In this Hybrid-Eligible role, you can choose to be designated as:
1. Hybrid: work remotely up to two days per week; or select
2. On-Site: work five days per week on-site with ad hoc flexibility.
