We are seeking a motivated and innovative Scientist I/Scientist II to join our dynamic R&D team. In this role, you will contribute to the development of cutting-edge diagnostic solutions, leveraging your expertise to drive assay development and validation projects. Collaboration is key, as you will interface with cross-functional teams, including bioinformatics, biostatistics, data science, clinical operations, and regulatory affairs. Proficiency in molecular biology methods for nucleic acid characterization and related applications is essential, along with a critical and creative approach to problem-solving.

Responsibilities:

  • Initiate, design, and execute experiments to develop and/or improve high-value diagnostic tests
  • Use molecular biology approaches to independently develop and optimize molecular diagnostics assays
  • Perform basic analysis of high-dimensional data and collaborate with statistics and bioinformatics teams for comprehensive data interpretation.
  • Provide expert support and guidance regarding experiment design, data analysis, and results to the broader scientific team
  • Collaborate across multiple departments to ensure seamless integration of scientific insights into broader research goals
  • Design, initiate, and execute experiments to develop or enhance high-value diagnostic tests.

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in genomics, molecular biology, or a related field with 0-2 years of relevant experience (Scientist I) or 2-5 years (Scientist II). Candidates with a BS or MS and significant experience may also be considered. Industry experience developing diagnostic assays is preferred.
  • Solid foundation in molecular biology, with hands-on experience in NGS library preparation and Illumina sequencing platforms. Familiarity with methylation sequencing library preparation is a plus.
  • Expertise in nucleic acid and cell-free DNA extraction techniques.
  • Strong interdisciplinary communication skills to foster collaboration and effective knowledge exchange.
  • Excellent organizational skills with acute attention to detail, ensuring high-quality outputs in a fast-paced environment.

San Francisco Bay Area Roles:

The anticipated base salary range for candidates who will work in Brisbane, California is $126,000 to $145,000. The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience within the job, type and length of experience within the industry, education, etc. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units. CareDx is a multi-state employer, and this salary range may not reflect positions that work in other states.
