WORK ASSIGNMENT DETAILS

Waukesha County Parks and Land Use Department's Planning and Zoning Division is seeking a qualified individual to fill the position of Senior Land Use Specialist. As a Senior Land Use Specialist your work will involve the analysis of subdivision plats and conditional use, variance and rezoning applications. This position also reviews zoning permit applications, provides community planning assistance and provides technical information to the public on zoning, planning, and land division matters.

The successful candidate will possess a bachelor's degree from a recognized college or university in planning, architecture, engineering, landscape architecture, geography, or closely related field AND two (2) years of responsible work experience in land use planning, zoning, and land division ordinance enforcement or administration or a closely related field.

Note: A master's degree in an area listed above may be substituted for one-year of the work experience requirement.

The 2025 starting salary range for the Senior Land Use Specialist is $70,866 to $82,326 (dependent upon qualifications; full range extends to $93,787).

Minimum Training & Experience Requirements - Senior Land Use Specialist
1. Graduation from a recognized college or university with a bachelor's degree in planning, architecture, engineering, landscape architecture, geography, or closely related field.
2. Two years of responsible work experience in land use planning, zoning, and land division ordinance enforcement or administration or a closely related field.
3. A master's degree in an area listed above may be substituted for one-year of the work experience requirement.

This position is authorized as a Senior Planner but we are looking to underfill it with a Senior Land Use Specialist (minimum training and experience requirements listed above). We may also double -underfill to Land Use Specialist.

Minimum Training & Experience Requirements - Land Use Specialist

1. Graduation from a recognized college or university with a bachelor's degree in planning, architecture, engineering, landscape architecture, geography, or closely related field.

The 2025 starting salary range for the Land Use Specialist is $55,515 to $64,480 (dependent upon qualifications; full range extends to $73,445).
