DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Corrections Refrigeration Mechanic Trade Instructor, you will conduct structured classroom instruction and on-the-job training in the refrigeration mechanics trade at SCI Laurel Highlands. You will deliver an appropriate curriculum that includes installation, repair, inspection, and maintenance of refrigeration, air conditioning, and heating systems. You will also oversee inmate work crews completing refrigeration work orders, assign daily inmate schedules, and inspect completed work assignments. This role requires the ability to form effective working relationships as well as a genuine desire to help inmates learn the basics of refrigeration mechanics leading to employability upon reintegration to the community. In addition, you will inventory all materials and tools used during training and assignments, document inmate progress, and maintain custody, order, and discipline of inmates at all times. - Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
- Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday.
- This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Five years of experience in the repair and servicing of refrigeration systems or air conditioning systems; or
- Completion of an approved apprenticeship in the refrigeration or air conditioning mechanic trade; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes one year of journey level work in the refrigeration or air conditioning mechanic trade.
Special Requirements:
- This position requires possession of an active Universal Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Certificate issued by an approved provider.
Other Requirements:
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.

- You must be able to perform essential job functions.

- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
