The Production Supervisor is primarily responsible for overseeing and leading a team of direct labor associates in the manufacture and assembly of products, components, and parts for custom ambulance emergency vehicles. This position has great emphasis on highly skilled processes, complex assemblies, and testing. The Production Supervisor, under the direction of the Director of Operations, is responsible for establishing required staffing levels, training, and developing personnel, managing employees' schedules, completing annual employee performance reviews, setting departmental and individual performance objectives, and driving continuous improvement. The supervisor works closely with supporting departments - Engineering, Human Resources, Maintenance, Purchasing, Quality, Safety, and Sales to meet overall performance objectives. The Supervisor must also lead the team in safety, quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement initiatives. Responsibilities:
- Daily assignments of hourly production personnel in order to meet schedule commitments and cycle time requirements. Prioritizes and manages the customer workflow within the department to ensure timely and efficient task completion in accordance with the customer schedule.
- Accountability for ensuring all quality, regulatory, responsible to make sure appropriate actions are taken to meet all requirements, including stopping production if appropriate.
- Reviews all work within the department to ensure technical accuracy of the work meets customer requirements, and engineering design expectations as documented in shop orders, engineering prints, bills of material, work instructions, and quality documentation. Assures all workmanship standards are met.
- Responsible for safety and environmental compliance of the department. Holds departmental employees accountable for following all OSHA and company policies and regulations. Actively participates in safety improvement activities.
- Responsible and accountable for maintaining accurate and timely attendance records of employees in the department.
- Provides technical expertise for problem resolution. Liaisons with appropriate departments such as Materials, Engineering, Sales Administration, and Product Management to determine root cause and corrective actions.
- Provides input and recommendations on staffing requirements and selection of departmental personnel.
May assist in developing area budget goals for personnel, equipment, supplies, etc...

- Actively leads continuous improvement activities within the departments. Leads the implementation of OPX foundational blocks of Identification of Waste, 5S, Standard Work, and Visual Management. Participates in value stream map creation and goal setting for the department product lines.
- Actively encourage employees to suggest improvements and facilitate the adoption of their ideas.
- Ensure Safety, Quality, On-time Delivery and Cost objectives are visible, understood by department employees, and proactively managed.
- Daily interface with Engineering department; changes, proto-types, verification of new material requirements, introduction of new process from engineering to production.
- Weekly interface with Purchasing department and vendors; changes, modifications as required.
- Ensure that equipment and tooling is well maintained (working closely with Maintenance).
- Participate in daily management meetings and walk-throughs.
- Elevate issues and improvement suggestions.
Requirements:
- High school diploma required. Associate or Bachelor's degree preferred
- Minimum 5 years work related experience, 2 years in Supervisory or Leadership capacity
- Practical experience including electrical, mechanical, welding, metal fabrication, etc...
- Experience in vehicle production or custom manufacturing environment
- Detailed knowledge and experience with manufacturing processes
- Thorough understanding and application of lean principles and continuous improvement methodologies
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written, with demonstrated team building and conflict resolution ability. Excellent employee and human relations skills.
- Must be able to work effectively with a cross-functional leadership team to achieve plant level objectives.

- Excellent computer skills. Ability to learn and use company specific systems. Knowledge, training and experience with regulatory agency requirements such as Triple K, CAAS requirements.
Physical Demand:
- Lift/Push/Pull- Exerting up to 40 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently constantly to move objects.
- Climbing- Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms.

- The worker is required to have visual acuity to perform an activity such as: operating machines such as lathes, drill presses, power saws and mills where the seeing job is at or within arm's reach; performing mechanical tasks of a non-repetitive nature such as carpenters, technicians, service people, plumbers, painters, mechanics, etc. The worker is required to have visual acuity to operate motor vehicles or heavy equipment

EOE/M/F/Vet/Disabled The pay scale for newly hired employees in this position at this location in California is between $68,640 - $92,500. This is based on meeting all of the requirements of the role. The base pay offered for the role may vary depending on the candidate's job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
