Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Systems Engineer providing support to the Kessel Run (KR) Division, which is within the USAF C3BM Directorate and located at Hanscom AFB, MA.

Specifically this will be supporting the Modeling and Simulation group.

Work Location: Hanscom AFB, MA

Citizenship: Must be a US citizen

Clearance: Must have and be able to maintain a US Top Secret level Clearance

Responsibilities:

The Air Force Air, Space & Cyberspace Constructive Environment Information Operations Simulation (ACE-IOS) Engineer is a key member of the Kessel Run Modeling and Simulation Portfolio that collaborates cross-functionally to lead the agile modernization and maintenance of the current suite.

  • Conduct reviews on the ACE-IOS program to evaluate and/or recommend alternative plans, improve systems engineering programs/processes, manage/sustain program technical baseline, and design/perform system level tests to assure that subsystems and system performance is achieved in accordance with approved specifications.
  • Prepare technical documents which define, specify, and recommend system/subsystem characteristics. Prepares management reports and conducts technical presentations for planning, implementation and corrective action using application of engineering economy principles.
  • Perform validation of systems, including development of criteria and procedures. Analyze and/or evaluate results of major engineering systems with a concentration on end-to-end communications from sensor/source through C2 node(s) to end users.
  • Provide system engineering, technical support and technical training to support programs/initiatives including, but not limited to, acquisition, development, integration, sustainment, continued evolution, deployment/fielding and installation, and operations oversight.
  • Advise and ensure high quality work that involves the planning, analysis, design, development, testing, quality assurance, configuration, installation, implementation, integration, maintenance, and/or management of the suite.
  • Collaborate with portfolio leadership and Program Manager in critical decision making at the tactical and strategic level from a technical perspective.
  • Technical advocate, work with the team to solve issues/problems.
  • Facilitate coordination between Contractor and users.
  • Pairs with Program Manager regularly to ensure successful implementation of the program's technical strategy and CNS, including re-alignment of resources and work as necessary to remain on track. Oversees and guides developers and the maintainers in support of sustaining and modernizing the suite
  • Pair with developers to remove technical blockers and resolve technical challenges.
  • Conducting risk and vulnerability assessments of planned and installed information systems to identify vulnerabilities, risks, and protection needs.
Qualifications:
  • Strong understanding of network engineering, configuration, cross domain solutions
  • Familiar with AOC Weapon System and Intel functions and system.
  • Strong technical foundation in software development best practices and processes including Agile development and DevSecOps.
  • Knowledge of relevant programming languages and databases (e.g., C++, Java, Postgres, DevOps).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in planning, organizing, and managing projects.
  • Collaborate with developers and other stakeholders to resolve issues and ensure quality.
  • Top Secret clearance, able to obtain and maintain JWICS access, will need to be on JWICS for majority of the workday
  • Strong problem-solving skills to resolve issues and ensure quality.

Education: Bachelors Degree

Years of Experience: 10 years of directly related experience with 5 years of experience in a DoD setting
