Volunteer Engagement Outreach VISTA

AmeriCorps VISTA members are Volunteers in Service to America who perform indirect service to build capacity and sustainable solutions.
What will you do?
The Volunteer Engagement Outreach VISTA member will create, document, and implement plans for volunteer outreach and recruitment, to increase the number of local individual volunteers and volunteer groups. This will include evaluating current volunteer programs, identifying best practices, and researching potential volunteers for areas with new programs and projects. Each new plan developed will be well documented and evaluated to ensure sustainability beyond the year of service. Develop sustainable systems or programs that will address the needs of the local Habitat.
- Research the volunteer program and resources that are currently in place to identify best practices and any additional needs the project requires. Document research and communicate findings to move forward future volunteer engagement outreach efforts.
- Based on the information gathered, develop, and document a formal volunteer outreach plan that will address the needs of the host site. The plan should include opportunities for volunteer feedback.
- Implement the new volunteer outreach program. Assist the host site in testing and evaluating the various parts of the program, making revisions as needed to ensure success.
- Ensure that the enhanced volunteer program is sustainable, continuing at the host site after the completion of the VISTA term, by documenting the plan and training staff and volunteers on the new program.
This position will focus on volunteer services aspects of Habitat affiliate operations.

- Unique projects: Habitat Metro Denver is starting two new projects in Fall 2025 that will last for the duration of the AmeriCorps members' service term. Griffith Station is a 20-unit new home development in Arvada, CO. This is the first time Habitat Metro Denver has built new homes in Arvada in over 15 years. The second project is a partnership with the City of Commerce City to repair 47 homes in 2025 and 2026. The home repairs are fully funded by the City of Commerce City and work will be completed by Habitat staff and volunteers. The volunteer recruitment plan to be created by this AmeriCorps member will be critical to ensuring the success of these 2 projects.

Minimum Requirements
Applicants must hold one of the following citizenship statuses: US citizen, US National, Lawful Permanent Resident Aliens or is a person residing in a state that have the following legal residency classifications: refugee, asylum or asylee, temporary protected status, or deferred action for childhood arrivals (DACA) status. Applicants must be at least 18 or older and have a high school diploma or GED.
