Overview

Planned Systems International (PSI) is an Enterprise IT services company who focuses on designing, building, securing, and operating cutting-edge software solutions that drive mission success and operational excellence for Federal Government organizations. We are currently seeking a proven Technical Writer to support the Unique Mission Cell (UMC) by writing technical reports following the execution of technology assessment event. Combine the submissions from other UMC team members including background information, field observations, and data analyses. Write document with "one voice" to describe impacts to operational and technical integration of emerging technologies and prototypes as well as with COTS and GOTS equipment/systems. Assist in data collection at events as required. Integrate data and reports from the UMC team and render into a report covering all aspects of each assessment, data collected, data analysis and recommendations for changes or improvement. Assist in writing test plans, assessment plans, and event letters of instruction (LOIs). Must be capable of working as a part of a distributed team, be self-directed on tasking, and able to learn quickly. The endstate is to develop reports suitable for senior leader decision support.

All work requires travel, upwards of 50%, to assessment sites within the US and some OCONUS travel.



Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities

    Provide direct support to the mission of the UMC across new technologies and capability development through joint experimentation, scenario-based exercises, and red team activities.
  • Create and edit technical reports and briefings, many with short-suspense due dates.
  • Prepare reports, proposals, briefings, and other written materials as assigned.
  • Support technical experimentation and assess vulnerabilities of emerging technologies in a joint military environment.
  • Able to understand and translate technical jargon into everyday language.
  • Determine the clearest and most logical way to present information (written and graphic) for greatest reader comprehension.
  • Develop and maintain templates in MS Word.
  • Frequent travel up to 50% supporting the team during experiment/collection events, often outdoors in austere environments and diverse weather conditions.
  • Arrange personal travel plans in accordance with Joint Travel Regulations (JTR) to support assessment events.
  • Able to support the UMC with other assignments as needed (role playing, operations center assistance, observer/data collection, etc.) to assist the team during execution.


Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required, preferably in English or Technical Writing.
  • Active T3 investigation, with the ability to obtain and maintain necessary security clearances as required for access to classified information.
  • 5 years' experience (documented and verifiable) writing and editing technical reports.
  • Strong Proficiency with MS Word.
  • Ability to listen and follow directions.
  • Team player who can thrive in a dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency with MS PowerPoint.
  • Valid US Passport.


Desired Qualifications

  • Master's Degree.
  • DoD Acquisition knowledge and experience.
  • S&T/JCIDs/PPBE knowledge and experience.
  • Proficiency or experience with Adobe Creative Cloud or other Desktop Publishing Software.
  • Military experience is a plus.


Physical Demands

  • Operate and physically able to move with military personnel in a field environment in all weather to observe and collect observations of hardware and software in use during the assessment.
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs.
