Department of Pediatrics is one of the largest departments within the UCSD School of Medicine with comprehensive clinical programs, extensive basic science and clinical research, and diverse educational opportunities for students, residents and fellows. Under supervision, the Research Data Analyst leads large-scale data analysis projects while overseeing all aspects of laboratory management. This role makes contributions to both experimental and computational research, particularly in cutting-edge investigations ofbioactive components in human milk, with a primary focus on human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs). The incumbent assists in developing standardized methods for data handling, storage, and analysis. This position is responsible for scientific research, statistical analysis, and computational modeling. The incumbent evaluates study designs, upholds scientific rigor, andtranslates research questions into well-defined hypotheses and analytical measures. The Research Data Analyst utilizes programming skills in Python or R, including data visualization for publications and presentations. The incumbent translates complex findings into clear,actionable insights for both technical and non-technical audiences while fostering interdisciplinary collaboration. Additionally, the incumbent oversees comprehensive laboratory operations, including mentoring undergraduate students and supporting research staff and postdoctoral scholars. Responsibilities also include ensuring smooth and safe laboratory operations, coordinating withEH&S for compliance, and managing animal colonies as needed. Other duties involve maintaining an organized inventory of reagents, biological samples, and analytical datasets, as well as performing general laboratory maintenance, equipment troubleshooting, and optimization of research workflows. Works on research data reporting assignments that are of moderate diversity in scope. Exercises judgment within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Performs other duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Pay Transparency Act Annual Full Pay Range: $69,500 - $123,500 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%) Hourly Equivalent: $33.29 - $59.15 Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
