Description
OPPORTUNITY: A promotion is the catalyst for these rare opportunities to work as an Associate Executive Director while receiving training and mentorship from the District Executive Director and other association level staff. With successful progress and attainment of various benchmarks the intent is to advance into an Executive Director role. POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direct supervision of the District Executive Director, the Associate Executive Director will direct the total operations of the branch including staff, membership, program and facility management. This role will gain experience in working with the board of managers, board presentations, community relations, financial development and special event management. Additionally, the Associate Executive Director is responsible for ensuring that association policy, procedure, and strategy is being followed in all areas. A high level of enthusiasm and energy is required as well as the ability to navigate through fast paced and lofty expectations of a high-performing branch while aligning branch and association expectations. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Oversee all operations of the branch including staff performance and program quality, efficiency, and safety. Work in collaboration with the District Executive Director on facilitation of licensed childcare portfolio.
- Serves as a leader of the branch while supporting the overall objectives of the association; serve on staff cabinets as directed.
- Performs as a role model for other directors, promoting staff development, mentorship, and strong stewardship of YMCA resources.
- Directs, manages, and monitors the branch operating budget and meets or exceeds budget targets by growing membership, developing programs, and controlling expenses.
- Under the direction of the District Executive Director, participates and presents at branch Board of Managers and committee meetings. Directs the volunteer activities (policy and program) of the branch.
- Develops and implements the annual operating plan of the branch.
- In conjunction with the Association Director of Financial Development, leads the financial development activities of the branch, including annual campaign and fundraising special events.
- Represents and promotes the YMCA in the local community and develops positive working relationships with other organizations, schools, businesses, and governmental entities. Develops, maintains, and models collaborative relationships with key stakeholders.
- Oversees the hiring, training, and supervision of exempt-level and/or full-time staff.
- Creates a culture of high quality relationship-based member engagement strategies.
- Fosters a climate of innovation to develop member-focused programs which support the Y mission, goals, and strategies.
- In collaboration with the Association Director of Building and Grounds, ensures the safety and maintenance of high-quality facilities, grounds, and equipment.
- Works in conjunction with association marketing and communication staff efforts to effectively communicate benefit to the community.
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in business, management, or related field.
- Minimum of three years of successful management of full-time staff teams; including hiring, training and management preferably within a YMCA.
- Ability to manage multiple departments while aligning all to overall goals of the branch and association.
- A strong business acumen is required in membership growth, program development and earned income production as it relates to expense control.
- Ability to direct total operations through fiscal management, board relations, staff development, volunteer engagement, and effective communication and leadership strategies.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community leaders and organizations; ability to recruit top community leaders and donors to the board positioning the Y as the premier community organization.
- Verified success in fund raising is required.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
- Proven track record of being a cause driven leader.
- YMCA Multi-Team or Branch Leader certification preferred.
- CPR and First Aid certifications required within 6 months of hire.
