Bilingual Clinical Research Coordinator - Psychiatry Department

The Depression Clinical and Research Program is part of the Outpatient Psychiatry Division of the Massachusetts General Hospital. The Program is investigating the efficacy of treatments for family caregiver distress, anxiety, and Major Depressive Disorder while seeking to learn more about the causes and course of this disease. Anticipated modalities include smartphone-based and AI interventions, mindfulness and guided imagery, medication treatments, and others. Studies may be conducted in English and Spanish languages, necessitating full bilingual fluency. This position will provide invaluable experience for anyone interested in pursuing graduate study in the fields of psychology, public health, or medicine.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Research Coordinators are responsible for managing and coordinating the clinical studies as members of the research team. This involves screening patients for study eligibility, data entry and analysis, manuscript preparation, and research administration. Research Coordinators will work closely with the physicians and psychologists on staff in managing patient care throughout the studies. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Collects & organizes patient data
  • Maintains records and databases
  • Uses software programs to generate graphs and reports
  • Assists with recruiting patients for clinical trials
  • Obtains patient study data from medical records, physicians, etc.
  • Conducts library searches
  • Verifies accuracy of study forms
  • Updates study forms per protocol
  • Documents patient visits and procedures
  • Assists with regulatory binders and QA/QC procedures
  • Assists with interviewing study subjects
  • Administers and scores questionnaires
  • Provides basic explanation of study and in some cases obtains informed consent from subjects
  • Performs study procedures
  • Assists with study regulatory submissions
  • Writes consent forms
  • Verifies subject inclusion/exclusion criteria
  • Performs administrative support duties as required

  • Working knowledge of clinical research protocols
  • Ability to demonstrate respect and professionalism for subjects' rights and individual needs

Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities:

Qualified applicants must have a bachelor's degree, oral and written proficiency in English AND Spanish languages, and strong organizational skills. Psychology, sociology, and premed majors are encouraged to apply, but all are welcome. Prior research or clinical experience is strongly recommended.
