THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will support the Environmental Group Manager in fulfilling compliance responsibilities within the Bureau of Oil and Gas Planning and Program Management at the Department of Environmental Protection. Your primary tasks will include reviewing and analyzing records and data to verify adherence to statutory and regulatory standards, along with initiating enforcement actions as required. Leveraging your analytical expertise, you will offer recommendations for improving data management systems and updating rules, regulations, and compliance policies. Additionally, you will perform evaluations, create technical guidance, and deliver training for the oil and gas program, industry stakeholders, and government entities.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days a week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office.
  • You will have the option to work from one of the following headquarters offices:

  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Three years of professional environmental protection experience and four years of technical experience in well design, drilling, completion, production, plugging, or underground storage operations in the oil or natural gas industry; or
  • One year of experience as an Environmental Protection Specialist or Environmental Protection Compliance Specialist (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Two years of experience as an Oil and Gas Inspector, Water Quality Specialist, or Solid Waste Specialist (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Three years of professional environmental protection experience and a bachelor's degree in biological, physical, or environmental sciences, or closely related field; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.


Special Requirement:
  • All positions require possession of an active motor vehicle license.
