KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Conduct regular training sessions on health and wellness protocols and best practices for our existing and new small mammal associates
  • Oversee the Documentation and maintenance of records required for federal and state agencies.
  • Work with leadership and management to update and enforce care and wellness best practices.
  • Inspect, examine, and render necessary treatment / care to small mammals.
  • Review and approve documents associated with transport, holding and/or distribution of small mammals domestically and internationally (I.e., health certificates).
  • Accompany designated associates on routine vendor/supplier audits.
  • Work closely with Auditing Veterinarians as well as veterinarians from governing state and federal offices to ensure compliance and protocol alignment.
  • Other duties as assigned.
IDEAL CANDIDATE ATTRIBUTES
  • DVM. Small Mammal experience is preferred.
  • 2 years of experience working as a veterinarian (required).
  • USDA certified (required)
  • Additional experience in exotic animals, specifically reptiles and bird's ideal.
  • Strong written, verbal, and leadership skills.
  • High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and the ability to practice extreme discretion, tact, and diplomacy.
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • On site inspections twice a week (Sun and Wednesday)
  • Electronic signature of Health Certificates Mon - Thursday via GVL
  • Reachable by phone, email or text (Monday-Friday), requiring emergency availability.
  • Ability to lift, bend, and twist.
