Optical Network Engineer SME

CompQsoft is looking for an Optical Network Engineer SME, responsible for designing, testing, and maintaining secure optical transport networks for military and government operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Network Design & Implementation: Develop and deploy optical networking solutions, including DWDM and OTN systems, tailored for DOD/DISA environments.
• Engineering Design: Lead the design and architecture of optical transport networks, ensuring scalability, efficiency, and security.
• Security & Compliance: Ensure adherence to DOD security protocols, including encryption and secure data transmission.
• Testing & Troubleshooting: Conduct interoperability testing between different vendors' optical transport equipment and cryptographic devices.
• Collaboration: Work with DISA teams to integrate optical networks into broader military IT infrastructure.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Active DOD Secret or higher Clearance.
• Security+ or equivalent 8570 IAT II certification.
• 5+ years of Optical systems engineering experience, including SONET, DWDM, TDM, and Ethernet technologies.
• Extensive experience in designing optical transport networks for DOD/DISA environments.
• Strong knowledge of Dense Wavelength-Division Multiplexing (DWDM) technologies.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Visio for technical documentation.
