Campus Minister/Liturgy Coordinator

JOB SUMMARY:

The Campus Minister counsels students on spiritual, moral, and personal growth issues. This position is responsible for the liturgical life of the University and plans and directs programs and activities that promote the mission and identity of the University. This position also encourages faith formation and student participation in faith and justice opportunities. This position is 40 hours per week for 10 months, paid over 12 months.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Counsels students individually on spiritual, moral, and personal growth issues; attends masses and student meetings as needed and as appropriate; encourages faith formation and student participation in faith and justice opportunities.

  • Coordinates worship and weekly Sunday and weekday liturgies on campus; trains, schedules, and develops liturgical ministers; oversees weekly Sunday bulletins, worship aids, and other materials; plans and organizes special University-wide liturgies; researches formational tools to develop University liturgical life; plans vigils, memorials, celebrations, and prayer services.

  • Plans, organizes, and conducts educational discussion groups, faith sharing, support groups, and programming for students; shares informal dialogue with students; plans and participates in retreats and immersion experiences.

  • Supports the University community at various functions; actively participates in and leads public worship; remains current with topics relevant to the position

  • Maintains statistical and financial data; coordinates budget management with the Department of Campus Ministry; participates in University-wide and departmental meetings, orientations, events, and celebrations; prepares reports, brochures, bulletins, announcements, and assessment materials; serves on committees as appropriate; participates in on-call rotation.

  • Performs other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge base in theology and the social sciences with special emphasis on liturgical theology and practice

  • Interpersonal/human relations skills

  • Verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to articulate and encourage Catholic, Jesuit values

  • Ability to work with individuals of other faith traditions

  • Ability to develop a good rapport with diverse groups

  • Ability to motivate in religious areas and encourage faith sharing and community

  • Ability to attend to details

  • Ability to perform duties with a sense of compassion, energy, openness, composure, and flexibility

  • Ability to operate a personal computer and various software programs

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduate-level theological degree

  • Two years of related experience in pastoral ministry
