Overview



Have a basic understanding of Naval Aviation Maintenance Data Collection System (MOS) and be able to utilize two-way radio system. Fill out Visual Information Display System/Maintenance Action Forms (VIDS/MAF) from pilots or maintenance technicians in accordance with existing instructions. Responsible to record and report aircraft discrepancies to proper work center, maintain aircraft registers, status boards, and process aircraft discrepancies in a timely manner. Maintain Aircraft Discrepancy Book (ADB) , VIDS Board and VIDS/MAF files . May be required to handle hazardous materials in performance of assigned duties.

Must have basic computer skills and demonstrate ability to type 30 wpm .

Have a basic understanding of Naval Aviation Maintenance Data Collection System (MDCS).

Be able to utilize two-way radio and/or intercom system.

Have knowledge of COMNAVFORINST 4790 .2 Series and other applicable Navy Instructions and Company Instructions.

Must speak in a clear, concise manner.

Must be able to interface with Government Representatives.

Must be able to read, speak, write legibly and understand the English language.






Major Job Activities





Description: Please list by order of priority and, if possible, provide the percentage of time spent on the activity all should equal 100%.



* Responsible to Maintenance Control Supervisor in performing those duties assigned.

* Be thoroughly familiar with the duties assigned to Aircraft Issue to such a degree that you can accomplish those tasks when assigned .



* Within 30 days of entering position, must qualify and continually maintain certification to release aircraft "safe for flight".



* Fill out Visual Information Display System/Maintenance Action Forms (VIDS/MAF) from aircrew or maintenance technicians in accordance with COMNAVFORINST 4790 .2 Series and other applicable Navy Instructions and Company Instructions .

* Screen completed VIDS/MAFs for correct entries and data.

* Assign Job Control Numbers (JCNs).

* Distribute VIDS/MAFs.

* Complete maintenance data forms and screen for completeness and correctness.

* Initiate VIDS/MAFs for inspections in accordance with COMNAVFORINST 4790.2 Series.

* Maintain Aircraft Discrepancy Book (ADB) in accordance with COMNAVFORINS T 4790.2 Series.

* Maintain VIDS/Board in accordance with COMNAVFORINST 4790.2 Series and other applicable Navy Instructions and Company Instructions.

* Verify VIDS/Board with Material, ADB, and work centers .

* Maintain VIDS/MAF files .

* Coordinates and maintains aircraft rinse sheets.

* When qualified and assigned by the Maintenance Control Supervisor, assist in scheduling aircraft into the Maintenance Program to ensure maximum availability of assets.

* When qualified and authorized by the Maintenance Control Supervisor , may assign logistics priorities for required parts.

* When qualified and authorized by the Maintenance Control Supervisor , may control and direct ground movement of aircraft in support of the maintenance effort. Monitor and assist the line move crew when operating inside the hangar.

* Maintain cleanliness of the work center and around your assigned work area.

* Responsible for adhering to all applicable Foreign Object Damage (FOD) prevention rules and regulations.

* Responsible for adhering to Company Tool Control Program .

* Must comply with established General and Industrial Safety Rules and Regulations as applicable to the contract, facilities and job assignment.

* Maintain appropriate records of all work accomplished.

* May be required to perform simple computer input functions.

* Ensure proper grounding and placement of drip pans following aircraft placement in hangar.

* Ensure grounding cables and drip pans are stowed after aircraft are moved from hangar.

* Assist aircraft handlers in closing hangar doors during inclement weather.

* Perform all duty assignments of the Maintenance Records Specialist job classification.

* Assist when directed to ensure safety, security and preservation of Government owned and Company owned equipment.

* Perform other reasonably related incidental duties when directed within the job classification

Working Environment



The diversity of work conditions may range from an environment where there is little or no physical discomfort, to an environment which is typical of an office setting. May be required to work in areas where high noise hazards prevail. May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles. May be exposed to electrical shock hazards.






Physical Activities



This classification activity is usually accomplished in an office-like environment and as such requires the scope of physical movements and postures normally associated with office activities. May occasionally be required to lift objects whose weight exceeds 30 pounds.





Qualifications






Education / Certifications: One-year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.

Experience:





* Must have two (2) years documented hands on general experience with two (2) years specialized experience in maintenance control and Naval Aviation Organization Maintenance Control Visual Information Display System (VIDS) Procedures..
