Project Engineering at V2X: Project Engineering is a specialized field within engineering that focuses on planning, managing, and executing projects. It combines technical expertise with project management skills to successfully achieve project objectives. Project Engineering demands a robust understanding of the project life cycle and its deliverables. Project engineers possess extensive engineering experience, particularly in the development and execution of engineering projects.

Role Overview: Join a dynamic team driving innovation in tactical defense solutions! V2X is seeking a highly motivated Senior Project Engineer to lead multidisciplinary teams within our Platform Systems Integration (PSI) program area in Indianapolis, IN. As a key contributor to our engineering development efforts, you will play a critical role in delivering cutting-edge solutions that meet mission-critical objectives while mentoring future leaders. You will own the technical execution of development projects, ensuring innovative solutions are delivered on schedule and within budget. Collaborating across Systems, Hardware, and Software Engineering functions, as well as Production, Supply Chain, and Quality Assurance teams, you will ensure success across all phases of development while building strong customer relationships.

Key Responsibilities: As the IPTL, you will be responsible for:



  • Provide technical leadership and coordination for development projects.
  • Support all phases of the development process, ensuring technical solutions meet program requirements and cost targets.
  • Collaborate with multi-discipline teams to support technical deliverables.
  • Create and maintain project plans, including tailoring for specific needs.
  • Coordinate the development of budgets, staffing plans, schedules, and organizational charts.
  • Lead Agile processes by creating project backlogs, writing user stories, and managing tasks within tools like Azure DevOps.
  • Prepare and present technical and programmatic data to customers and leadership.
  • Support proposal development by assembling engineering estimates, preparing 15-2 compliant Basis of Estimates (BOEs), and contributing to technical volumes or white papers.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to team members, fostering growth and development within the organization.


Required Skills:



  • Exceptional communication skills (oral and written) and ability to collaborate across all levels of the organization.
  • Knowledge of Systems Engineering, including Requirements Management, IV&V, and life cycle management of projects.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in project planning and management tools, including Microsoft Project.
  • Ability to monitor and measure project performance effectively.
  • Willingness to gain or maintain a US Government Secret Security Clearance (US Citizenship required).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Teams, and Windows.
  • Ability to aggregate and synthesize technical and program data for decision-making.
  • Basic understanding of drawings, specifications, and other technical documentation.


Desired Skills:



  • Proven ability to organize and lead project teams throughout the development life cycle.
  • Technical leadership capabilities, including resolving complex challenges.
  • Experience working in traditional and Agile teams, including backlog management in Azure DevOps or similar tools.
  • Proposal development experience, including BOE creation and volume writing.
  • Ability to perform in a dynamic, team-based environment.
  • Strong operational understanding of requirements assimilation and risk mitigation.
  • Proficiency with CAD tools like CREO.
  • Familiarity with testing, IEEE 15288, and AS9100 standards.
  • Customer-facing experience, with a track record of effective communication and delivery.
  • Familiarity with 15-2 compliant bids.


Qualifications:



  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline required; MBA or Master's in Engineering preferred.
  • Certifications: PMP certification preferred.


Experience:



  • Bachelor's degree with 10+ years of experience, or
  • Equivalent experience with comparable knowledge and job skills.
