Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organization:

The Senior Manager, Buying and Trading is responsible for leading the Buying team and strategy across specific categories to deliver market and business KPI's to drive profitability, collaborating with cross functional partners to support pre-season planning and in-season trading to deliver overall execution and success of the Retail Concept Store business and the adidas brand.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Lead, manage and develop the Buying team, ensuring the execution of the right product, right place, at the right time to deliver against the channel financial targets
  • Develop, present, and drive comprehensive seasonal merchandise strategies across select categories with buying, planning, allocation, and visual merchandising teams
  • Validate assortment, financial roll-up, and marketing/promotional direction inline with channel targets following market and channel OTB plans & KPIs
  • Design pre-season strategy for select categories in partnership with Planning for open-to-buy Planning & Management following the market financial targets
  • Drive the submission of initial seasonal forecasts and size curves into applicable systems according to market needs for horizontal review by global & local functions
  • Identify market trends and develop business strategies outlining strengths, weaknesses, new opportunities, and potential threats to the channel performance
  • Orchestrate market in-season trading, assuring timely sales forecast by product, inventory management and in-season markdowns/promotions alongside local, brand strategies and commercial moments to deliver a premium consumer experience
  • Lead input to Market & global BU teams to support ranging needs by store concept
  • Support the creation and execution of channel Assortment Plans according to store tiering, product lifecycles and local, global and commercial marketing initiatives
  • Build and leverage relationships with cross-functional peer-set that assures collaboration amongst business partners

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:



  • Possess a strong skill set & knowledge of pre-season Buying and in-season trading processes for a multichannel direct-to-consumer (own retail) global brand, acquired through advanced training, studies, and relevant working experience
  • Broad knowledge of merchandising and retail supply and operations topics and good knowledge of other functional areas involved in the Buying process
  • Strong influencer and natural collaborator who thrives on teamplay
  • Holistic thinker - establish and drive end-to-end strategies and initiatives encompassing multiple functions
  • Strong Business acumen and knowledge of buying processes, budgets, & projects
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite including Advanced Excel skills
  • Proven ability to lead and develop teams
  • Thrives in a busy environment successfully multi-tasking and problem-solving while managing multiple projects at the same time



Requisite Education and Experience / Minimum Qualifications:



  • University degree in business, ideally with marketing and sales focus or equivalent professional experience
  • Fluent in English
  • 8 years typical relevant work experience
