Equipment Operator B - Clarks Summit State Hospital

As an Equipment Operator B, your work consists of performing all digging and excavating duties. This may involve repairing and replacing underground water, steam, and electrical lines, new construction, and upon completion of construction, bringing the landscape back to original contour and grade. When you are not performing duties that require use of heavy equipment, you will be providing escort services, general pickup and delivery services, as well as dietary service pickup and delivery services. Additional responsibilities include:

• Performing preventative maintenance, inspections, and safety checks
• Assisting the mechanic with major repairs when needed
• Handling snow removal
• Performing all functions of groundskeeping within the facility including lawn maintenance, repair, reseeding, mowing, planting trees and shrubs, landscaping, brush cutting, weed trimming, and removal of debris

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, rotating weekend and holiday schedule, with a 12-hour shift every 5th or 6th weekend.
• This position is considered essential. You will be required to report to work during emergencies and office closings.
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
• Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• One year of experience as an Equipment Operator A (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
• Two years of experience in the operation of heavy construction and specialized maintenance equipment used at this level with a gross vehicle weight of 32,001 pounds or more; or
• Any equivalent combination of experience or training.
