Job Title: Sales Manager - Freight Forwarding/Logistics
Location: Wood Dale, IL (on-site)
FLSA: Exempt, Full-Time, Direct Hire
OVERVIEW
A global logistics and freight forwarding company based in Wood Dale, IL, is seeking a results-driven and strategic Sales Manager to lead efforts in expanding its customer base across the United States. The ideal candidate will possess extensive industry knowledge in freight forwarding, logistics, and supply chain management, coupled with a proven track record in business development and client relationship management. This position is heavily focused on acquiring new clients, with a key performance objective of generating targeted profit through effective and strategic sales efforts.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT NOT ARE LIMITED TO:
Business Development: Proactively identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities within the freight forwarding and logistics sector.
Client Relationship Management: Understand clients' logistics needs and deliver customized, high-quality solutions.
Customer Satisfaction: Ensure exceptional service delivery and exceed customer expectations.
Proposals & Presentations: Create tailored proposals and deliver compelling sales presentations. Collaborate with operations teams on pricing and RFQ development.
Negotiations: Lead pricing and contract negotiations-especially with Japanese clients-to reach mutually beneficial agreements.
Collaboration: Work cross-functionally with internal teams, including operations and customer service, to ensure seamless execution and support.
Market Research: Monitor industry trends, competitor activities, and market dynamics to refine sales strategies.
Sales Planning: Develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy. Leverage CRM tools to manage pipelines and track activities.
Reporting: Provide regular updates on sales performance, client feedback, and market insights to the executive team.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of 5 years of logistics sales experience, preferably in freight forwarding.
Proven success in meeting or exceeding sales targets and developing new business.
Strong ability to build pipelines and engage key decision-makers.
Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
