Introduction

The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office is seeking qualified applicants for a full-time Legal Secretary position located in the Civil Process section.


Job Summary

Essential job functions include but are not limited to: greet and direct citizens, law enforcement personnel, and attorneys in a courteous and professional manner; answer incoming calls and forward to appropriate interdepartmental staff or outside agencies; process, sort and assign court documents to deputies for service; enter into the software tracking system information from court documents; route all documents for return to appropriate courts and jurisdictions after they have been served and the dispositions have been entered into the software tracking system; prepare necessary correspondence; collect service fees; prepare deposits and remittances; reconcile monthly bank statements; general filing; ability to multitask and prioritize work in rapidly changing situations; position requires accurate and extensive data entry; and work collaboratively with civilian and sworn personnel to meet departmental goals.

Hiring salary commensurate with experience.


Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent; three (3) years of related clerical/administrative work experience with computer automated systems and office applications experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred but not required experience in legal office setting (secretary/receptionist/court clerk/paralegal).

Successful candidate must hold a Notary Public Commission or must obtain within 60 days from the date of hire.


Job Contingencies and Special Requirements

Selection process includes review of the Applicant Screening Questionnaire and County employment application, in-person interview(s), and an intensive background investigation to include fingerprinting, credit check, driving record, and polygraph examination.
