Position Summary: We are seeking a Senior Project Manager to join our growing Water, Energy & Environment (WEE) Business Line. This individual will bring strong leadership, technical and organizational skills to manage complex contracts and the projects within them - particularly in support of federal, state and local clients involved in coastal/flood risk management, water resources, ecosystem restoration, engineering with nature, waterway navigation, dredging, beneficial use of dredge material, and other water-related projects.

This position will serve as a contract and project delivery leader. As a compliment or support to business development, it includes active engagement with clients to ensure high-quality execution and long-term successful partnerships. The selected individual will serve as the primary point of contact for appropriate clients, enhancing JMT's reputation as a trusted partner and solutions provider while supporting other clients and projects through quality control activities.

Essential functions and responsibilities:



  • Manage projects and task orders within the WEE Business Line.
  • Lead multi-disciplinary project teams, providing oversight and monitoring of technical execution, schedules, budgets and deliverables.
  • Assist Section Heads, Office Leaders, Market Leaders, and Service Line Leaders with the marketing process, including SMART Go/No Go decisions, proposal development, interviews, and developing a win strategy.
  • Lead and manage team members by providing leadership and continuous performance management (setting expectations, goals, feedback, 1:1 meeting, coaching) that supports the growth and development of team.
  • Provide coaching and mentorship to the project team through one-on-one check-in meetings and various project debriefs to acknowledge achievements, identify areas for improvement, and share lessons learned.
  • Develop Project Management plans for assigned projects.
  • Manage subconsultants and all technical resources on the project team.
  • Participate in client presentations and attend professional events/conferences.
  • Develop and lead in project status and presentations
  • Support or lead WEE marketing and business development initiatives, campaigns, or strategies in collaboration with WEE business line, service line, and market sector leads.
  • Work closely with a project accountant to monitor accounts receivable and prepare/review invoices.
  • Develop and maintain a strong network of clients and other industry stakeholders.
  • Coordinate and guide all technical resources within the project team to ensure delivery of a high-quality outcome.
  • Leverage advanced knowledge and experience with the client and project type to analyze the project, anticipate potential risks (such as overruns and scope changes), and implement effective mitigation strategies.
  • Implement strategies for project tracking and reporting by using project performance metrics to foresee and mitigate issues.
  • Development of supplemental / extra work order requests and open-end contract task proposals.

Required Skills

  • Must successfully complete and pass JMT's Motor Vehicle screening

Required Experience

  • Bachelor's degree from an ABET accredited engineering program
  • 15+ years' experience in specialized discipline
  • Demonstrated experience leading others
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Qualifications preferred:
  • Professional Engineer or ability to obtain license within 12-18 months
  • CAPM or PMP or ability to obtain certification within 12-18 months
  • Experience working with local clients at the local, county, state or federal level
  • Project management and business development experience
  • Experience with multiple project delivery methods i.e. Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, P3
  • Experience managing multidiscipline project teams


Working Conditions:

Work is performed within a general office environment 95% of the time. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.

Field work is required on occasion where work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Some lifting (up to 25 lbs) may be required as needed.
