FSCA is currently hiring a Lead Truck Body Shop Tech to join our Field Maintenance Team to support the future growth of the Company. This is an on-site role and we do not provide emergency road services. If you are looking for a new place to call home, we would love to talk to you! Lead Truck Body Shop Technician will be responsible for performing advanced panel and bumper replacement/repair, heavy wreck repairs, suspension, structural frame repair, parts removal, caulking/sealing, fiberglass work, plastic repair and other duties as assigned such as removing decals, paint preparation, sanding/grinding, structural steel and aluminum welding, engine/transmission component replacement/repair, electrical wiring replacement/repair. Achieve a mastery in majority of technical disciplines. Moderately relied upon for advanced structural repair and triage of complicated repairs. Moderately relied upon for customer interaction and communication. Lead on shop floor, and the customer's interaction is heavily influenced by this type of mechanic. Mentor and teach other Technicians in the shop in a manner most conducive to their particular learning style. Lead Truck Body Shop Technician has multiple interactions with Shop Manager to make valuable decisions related to the performance and potential of other Technicians within the group. Performs duties of Shop Manager in their absence.

Primary Duties/Key Responsibilities

* Perform advanced adjustments and repairs, panel and bumper replacement/repair, heavy wreck repairs, suspension, structural frame repair, parts removal, caulking/sealing, fiberglass work, plastic repair and other duties as assigned such as removing decals, paint preparation, sanding/grinding, structural steel and aluminum welding, engine/transmission component replacement/repair, electrical wiring replacement/repair in a Shop environment.

* Support Truck Body Shop Technician I/II in obtaining correct parts for each job.

* Identify problems, determine accuracy and relevance of information, using sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and make recommendations.

* Assist Truck Body Shop Technicians I/II with advanced/complicated repairs.

* Inspect all repaired and primed panels for proper and complete body repairs and primer application by Truck Body Shop Tech I/II.

* Work with Service Writer/Estimator/Parts to assess customer needs, providing information or assistance, resolving their problems, or satisfying their expectations.

* Ensure completion and assist in cleanup at the end of each day for tools, parts, and equipment within the shop.

* Advises Truck Body Shop Technicians I/II/Sr on Technical issues.

* Ensure other Technicians adhere to company policies, processes, and procedures.

* Assist Truck Body Shop Technicians I/II/Sr with advanced/complicated repairs.

* Mentor Truck Body Shop Technician I/II/Sr on best practices and techniques to stay within or close to most Standard Repair Times, along with time management and prioritization of activities.

* Lead and develop other Technicians by providing ongoing technical feedback.

* Assist Shop Manager with Quality Control Inspections on work performed by Truck Body Shop Technician I/II/Sr.

* Support Shop Manager in conducting team meetings and technical training sessions.

* Support Shop Manager in conducting safety checks of Shop assigned equipment.

* Mentor and teach other Technicians in the Shop in a manner most conducive to their learning style.

* Work with a high degree of independence and help manage workflow for other technicians.

* Maintain a clean and safe work environment. Assist in cleanup at the end of each day for tools, parts, and equipment.

* Applies knowledge that is acquired through formal training or on-the-job experience to perform one's job; works with, understands, and evaluates technical information related to the job.

* Act with integrity, demonstrate honesty and keep commitments. Behave in a consistent manner, keeping sensitive information confidential and adhering to ethical and professional standards.

* Perform minor adjustments and light repairs on various types of Truck equipment including small panel and bumper replacement/repair, parts removal, caulking/sealing, and other duties as assigned such as removing decals, paint preparation, sanding/grinding in a Shop environment.

* Use hand tools as well as basic power tools and safety equipment such as lifts, jacks, and stands.

* Accurately complete all forms of documentation including basic job descriptions on Repair Order and daily worked hours on Karmak application in a timely fashion.

* Maintain a high level of productivity and be able to work within or close to most Standard Repair Times.

* Communicate with Shop Manager and support team to discuss RO findings notes.

* Perform all work in compliance with organizational safety, health and environmental policies, and federal regulations, to include OSHA, EPA, and DOT. Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) where applicable.

* Participate and complete all-in company required safety training.

* Conduct safety checks on shop equipment such as ladder inspections.

* Review any incomplete, missed damage, or improper repairs with management before proceeding.

* Adhere to company policies, processes, and procedures.

* Follows and complies with safe operating practices and procedures at all times.

Education/Experience

* High School Diploma/GED and 7 years' experience. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as any level degree/certification beyond a HS diploma/GED in a related discipline and 5 years' experience; or 9 years' experience in a related field

* Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform required job duties.

* OEM training and certifications are preferred.

* Participate in and complete all-in company required training

* This position follows regulations issued by the Department of Transportation's (DOT) Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). Candidate must be able to successfully complete and pass a DOT-regulated pre-employment background screening and DOT physical prior to employment.

* A current and valid DOT medical card with more than four (4) months remaining until its expiration may be submitted in leu of a DOT physical. If the DOT medical card has four (4) months or less of validity remaining, a DOT physical will be required.

* Due to interstate operating authority commerce regulations, candidates must be at least 21 years or older.

* Safe drivers needed and 3 YR MVR review required; Candidate must hold a valid state-of-residence driver's license, be able to obtain and maintain their Driver Qualification File

Skills/Abilities

* Knowledge of Truck parts and systems, including their designs, and uses to make basic repairs.

* Understand the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making.

* Ability to lift, bend, climb, stand, and walk for long periods of time; ability to perform moderately heavy laboring work.

* Ability to exert oneself physically over long periods of time without tiring, which may include performing repetitive tasks.

* Ability to accurately judge which of several objects is closer or farther away from the observer, or the distance between an object and the observer.

* Ability to communicate information (for example, facts, ideas, or messages) in a succinct and organized manner. Engages in effective two-way communication with individuals and groups.

* Ability to work comfortably on heights up to 13' using ladders and scaffolding with provided safety equipment such as safety harnesses and guardrails.

* Ability to determine the type of tools and equipment needed for repairs.

* Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.

USD 26.06 - 39.13 per hour

Compensation:

Hourly base pay rate is $26.06 - $39.13/hour. The hourly base rate may vary within the anticipated range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include commission (annual, monthly, etc.) and/or an incentive program.

Benefits:

Employees are eligible to receive a minimum of 6.67 hours of paid time off every month and seven paid holidays throughout the calendar year. Employees are also eligible for additional paid time off in the form of bereavement leave, time off to vote, jury duty leave, volunteer time off, military leave, and parental leave.
