Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The UNC Adams School of Dentistry Division of Pediatric and Public Health provides oral health care for individuals from infancy through adolescence, and promotes the prevention of oral disease. The Pediatric Dentistry discipline is committed to the treatment of children, adolescents and special needs patients while balancing teaching, scholarship, patient care, research and professional service activities.
Position Summary
The department of pediatric dentistry and dental public health is seeking a Program Coordinator to oversee a project focused on providing oral health services to young children. This role includes managing all aspects of the project, entering and managing project data, preparing reports, presentations, and publications, while also dedicating approximately 20% of work time as a Medical Support Technician in the dental clinic.

Key Responsibilities:
Program Coordinator (80%):
* Manage the project to ensure all objectives are met within the specified timeline.
* Enter and manage project data using tools such as REDCAP and Excel.
* Prepare reports, presentations, and publications to communicate project findings and progress.
* Coordinate with stakeholders, including researchers, healthcare providers, and community organizations.
* Monitor and report on project progress, providing regular updates to the project team and funding bodies.
* Develop and manage project documentation, including protocols, consent forms, and data collection tools.
* Facilitate meetings and workshops to engage and train project staff and participants.

Medical Support Technician Duties (20%):
* Provide clinical support to our faculty providers, residents, dental assistants and hygienists. Tasks include but are not limited to: routine assembling and preparing supplies and instruments needed for procedures; performing sterilization according to OSHA standards; infection control; organization and inventory of supplies; maintaining dental equipment and medical supplies; cleaning operating room settings as needed.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's degree in public health or public health education, or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
* Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Healthcare administration or a related field.
* Completion of an accredited training program in the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. Some positions may require additional training, certifications, or licensure.
* Strong organizational and time management skills.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office, REDCAP and project management software.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
* Experience in early childhood oral health programs.
* Knowledge of oral health practices and procedures and interest in pursuing dental assisting.
* Familiarity with research methodologies and data analysis.
* Research experience with oral health and nutrition.
Special Physical/Mental Requirements
* Office environment with occasional travel to project sites.
* Exposure to clinical settings and interaction with young children.
* Flexible working hours may be required to meet project deadlines.
