The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Senior Director of Data Analytics, the Data Intern (Variable Hours Officer) will support the Data Analytics team in collecting, cleaning, analyzing, and visualizing data to inform decision-making across the school.

Responsibilities




  • Assists with data extraction and preparation from institutional systems using SQL.



  • Cleans, formats, and validates data using tools like Excel, SQL, or Python.



  • Builds dashboards or reports in tools like PowerBI, Excel, or Python.



  • Helps maintain documentation of data sources, definitions, and workflows.



  • Applies statistical methods to analyze trends, identify patterns, and support decision-making.



  • Conducts exploratory data analysis to support insights for school leadership.




Minimum Qualifications




  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent required.



  • Recent graduate from a program related to data science, statistics, information systems, computer science, public policy, or education.



  • Familiarity with SQL and relational databases.



  • Familiarity with Python.



  • Familiarity with data visualization and reporting tools, e.g. Tableau or PowerBI.



  • Familiarity with statistical methods using R or python.



  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.



  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.



  • Strong attention to detail and curiosity about data.



  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills required; ability to analyze and interpret complex data sets, make findings relevant, and explain data to a general (non-technical) audience.



  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks under short and changing deadlines, while ensuring timely and accurate execution.




Preferred Qualifications




  • Proficiency in Python.



  • Proficiency in SQL.



  • Familiarity with relational database design.



  • Experience with Tableau, PowerBI, or other enterprise-level reporting tools.
