Lead Sanitation

Pay range: $29.00 - $31.00 based on experience/qualifications.

Hours: Shifts will be 2nd and 3rd shift and will vary depending on business needs

Shift may vary

Weekends, overtime and holidays as required

Position Summary

The Lead Sanitation directly leads assigned employees engaged in activities to ensure that plant operations meet mandatory sanitation requirements for machinery, equipment and facilities. This includes planning, guiding and directing work, assisting in weekly Continuous Improvement (CI) meetings, helping to address product issues and customer complaints, and resolving other quality problems. This person carries out leadership responsibilities in accordance with the Company's policies, OSHA regulations and applicable laws while following all CI processes and the Management Operating Structure (MOS).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

Driving Company Performance

  • Implements and maintains plant sanitation programs and ensures compliance with Company standards as stated in the QA Manual and Company directives.
  • Periodically audits and assists employees in sanitation and CIP processes to ensure compliance with SSOPs.
  • Implements and oversees plant Master Sanitation programs.
  • Works with Production and other management to plan and schedule work of supervised staff to meet sanitation schedules while maximizing productivity.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists workers in solving work problems.
  • Collaborates with QA (Lab Staff) to troubleshoot and analyze sanitation-related issues.
  • Recommends measures to continuously improve sanitation methods, equipment performance, and quality of products produced and distributed by the plant.
  • Validates SSOPs annually or when systems are modified.
  • Manages relationships with outside vendors such as the plant chemical supplier.
  • Collaborates with supervisors & managers to coordinate activities of individual departments including production to identify, solve and prevent problems affecting sanitation.
  • Provides guidance of assigned employees in scheduling and daily activities, ensuring effective selection, retention, feedback, disciplinary action and performance management. If a collective bargaining agreement exists, may participate grievances or other contract related activities and discussions.
  • Trains and instructs employees in regard to sanitation standards, GMPs, SSOPs and objectives.
  • Oversees instruction, implementation of policies as they relate to employees.
  • Leads by example with the Clover Farms Code of Ethics. This includes following Company policies, standards and specifications.
  • Engages in the typical responsibilities of a Lead, require planning, evaluating, organizing, integrating and delegating.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

Preferred

Work Experience

A minimum of 2 years of dairy or food plant experience, including sanitation duties

Education

Technical Knowledge

Possesses a working knowledge of sanitation operations; maintains knowledge of current and developing sanitation techniques.

Working knowledge of HACCP.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Excellent verbal/written communication skills.

Ability to adapt to changing organizational and operational needs; ability to lead others through change.

Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

This position operates in a fast-paced warehouse environment that is exposed to wet and cold conditions. The employee may have some exposure to dust, fumes, and cleaning chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is moderate. Employees are required to wear the required PPE that is provided by the company in compliance with OSHA regulations. Employees may experience swings in work-related demands of this position.

While performing the duties of this job, employees are regularly required to stand, walk, kneel, push, or pull throughout the entire shift.

Employees must occasionally lift and/or move 50 pounds or more, including above shoulder height. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus. Must have full range of body motion.
