Primary Purpose |
Your Commitment as a Team Member of Pacific Recreation:
The Scheduling and Member Services Coordinator will support the Assistant Director of Pacific Recreation by overseeing the scheduling and member services for the Baun Fitness Center and auxiliary facilities. This role is essential in ensuring effective staff coverage, supporting day-to-day operations, and providing outstanding customer service for facility users. The coordinator will be responsible for managing student staff scheduling, overseeing facility operations, and providing leadership during evening and weekend hours to ensure the highest level of service, safety, and operational efficiency.

Essential Functions |
Scheduling and Staff Oversight:
- Responsible for scheduling student staff, including Rock Tower Hosts, Recreation Managers, Recreation Staff, and Fitness Attendants.
- Schedule staff for external rental reservations, ensuring all required positions are filled and adequate shift coverage is maintained for all Pacific Recreation services provided.
- Monitor staff availability and adjust schedules as necessary.
- Assist in the supervision of student staff during shifts, ensuring adherence to policies and procedures, and provide support as needed.
- Provide leadership and ensure excellent customer service throughout shifts, addressing any staff or patron concerns.
- Assist with the hiring, onboarding, training, and offboarding of new and current recreational staff, ensuring a thorough and consistent process for all staff members.
Facility Management:
- Assist the Assistant Director of Member Services and Operations with facility management, including the daily operations of Baun Fitness Center, supporting facility supervision, point of sale processes, and operational policies and procedures.
- Act as the on-site lead during evening and weekend hours, overseeing all operational functions. Assist with after-hours programming and provide support for special events and external reservations.
- Develop and implement innovative ideas for the improvement of facility operations and program services.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to promote Pacific Recreation's programs and services to campus and community members.
Customer Service and Member Support:
- Assist with marketing to develop and implement marketing strategies to engage students, faculty, and staff in specific program areas.
- Assist in developing strategies to attract new members and retain participants.
- Collaborate with campus partners to create a dynamic and collaborative Recreation program.
Administration and Risk Management
- Assist with tracking the budget for student staff payroll, supplies, and equipment needs.
- Ensure that student staff complies with safety protocols, emergency procedures, and industry-standard risk management practices.
- Prepare and submit detailed shift reports to the Assistant Director, noting any incidents or concerns.
- Maintain familiarity with all Pacific Recreation policies and procedures and ensure they are communicated effectively to student staff.
Other Duties Assigned:
- Fulfill additional responsibilities as directed by the Director, Recreation or AVP of Student Health and Wellness
- Participates in Division of Student Life events as requested.
- Represents Pacific Recreation while working with all Student Life and Campus partners of Pacific Recreation to create a dynamic and fully collaborative Recreation program on campus including making independent decisions and recommendations on behalf of Pacific Recreation.

Minimum Qualifications |
- Bachelor's degree in social science, public health, higher education, sports administration, recreation, exercise science, or related field.
- One (1) year of experience in Recreation, including but not limited to competitive sports, facilities, fitness programming, membership services, and/or adventure programming.
- One (1) year of experience leading and supervising staff.
- Standard CPR/First Aid Instructor Certification (to be obtained within three (3) months of employment).

Preferred Qualifications |
- Experience with Innosoft Fusion membership management software and When2Work.
- Demonstrated experience in student recreation centers, student activities, student life or student development.
- Knowledge of personnel management and budgeting.
- Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
- Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
- Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.

Work Environment/Work Week/Travel:
Work is primarily performed both in a standard office and gym and outdoor sports environments. Regular Office Hours will be Monday to Friday 10am to 7pm. Will require work performed on non-standard business times both on weekends and evenings.
Valid driver's license required. Incumbent must also be able to meet the University's fleet rules and be eligible to drive for University business. The University and its insurance carrier reserve the right to exclude applicants based on their driving record. |
Hiring Range |
$25-$26 per hour. We consider factors such as, but not limited to, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's qualifications, internal equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. |
