Summary
The Director of Executive Communications is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive communications strategy tied to the business priorities of the and its senior executives. This role involves crafting compelling messages, speeches, briefings, presentations, and other communication materials that align with the company's goals and values. The Director will seek our new opportunities for executive leaders that that enhance the visibility and thought leadership of the Power Authority. The Director will work closely with the executive team to ensure consistent and effective communication both internally and externally. #LI-CJ1
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive executive communications strategy that aligns with the NYPA's business goals and objectives.
- Identify key opportunities, messages and themes to enhance the visibility and influence of senior executives.
- Write, edit, and produce high-quality speeches, briefings, presentations, talking points, op-eds, blogs, and social media content for senior executives.
- Ensure all communication materials are clear, compelling, and aligned with the company's messaging and branding guidelines. Ensure all executive communications are consistent with the company's brand voice and strategic messaging.
- Collaborate with the Integrated Marketing team to identify and secure media opportunities for senior executives.
- Prepare executives for media interviews, press conferences, and other public appearances, including developing key messages and conducting media training.
- Foster and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
- Coordinate and manage executive participation in key events, conferences, and meetings to enhance stakeholder engagement.
- Lead the development and execution of communication strategies during crisis situations.
- Provide timely and effective communication guidance and support to executives during emergencies or critical events.
- Track and analyze the effectiveness of executive communications strategies and initiatives.
- Provide leadership and guidance to junior communications staff and external agencies or consultants.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Proven track record of developing and executing successful communication strategies for senior executives.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills; editing experience is required.
- Strong understanding of media relations and social media platforms.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- High level of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality.

- Experience preparing highly sensitive documents for regulatory agencies, oversight committees and similar authorities preferred. Experience working in the energy or utility industry a plus
Education, Experience and Certifications
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or a related field is required; Masters preferred
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in executive communications, public relations, or a similar role.
- Minimum 3 years of people management experience

The salary offered will be determined based on the successful candidates' relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
