JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Peer Success Coaches (PSC) represent an integral part of The Chaiken Center for Student Success. PSCs will work with students on an individual and group basis to help them developacademic and success skills. PSCs will represent The Chaiken Center at campus events and will have the opportunity to collaborate with the Chaiken Center staff, faculty, and university staff in delivering and developing academic coaching and providing feedback to improve student services. PSCs will have the opportunity to develop as leaders by learning and honing a variety of skills. They will have the opportunity to participate in problem solving and creativity as they determine effective ways of engaging with students who learn in different ways. PSCs will also develop and fine-tune organizational skills as they balance individual student appointments and group sessions. This opening also allows PSCs to enhance their communication skills. This is an excellent opportunity for students who have an interest in the helping professions such as: education, customer/client services, or any occupation in which you will utilize problem-solving, creativity, and communication skills.

Job Duties
  • PSCs will be responsible for working with individual students and groups of studentstohelp their peers develop and hone academic skills and to incorporate these skills into habitual practices.
  • PSCs must be dependable, responsible, and patient.
  • PSCs will be expected to work collaboratively and abide by a professional code of conduct.
  • PSCs must document every academic coaching session using department-approved documentation protocol.
  • PSCs will be expected to be prompt for appointments and classes, take complete and organized notes, manage time efficiently, handle problems tactfully and effectively, and keep information regarding all students confidential.
  • PSCs will be expected to attend on-goingprofessional developmentand monthly staff meetings.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Applicants must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 which must be maintained while serving as a PSC.
  • PSCs should possess effective and strong academic/success and interpersonal skills and responsible work ethic.
